worlds apart
(for leisa)
3/9/98
thousands of miles unfold between us
endless highways
rolling fields
dusty plains
towering mountains
in spite of the staggering distance
when we talk
the miles just seem to disappear
I bask in the glow of your joy
and share your tears when you are down
at times the frustration can be overwhelming
for I want so much to see you smile when you are happy
and to hug you and give you words of encouragement when you are not
the distance between
us is long
the time we have known each other is not
but all the same I find myself closer to you than
to some living next door whom I have know far longer
I truly hope the day will come, my very special friend
when we can erase the miles for a short time
and I can actually say hello to you and hug you in person
That day may be as far in the future as the miles that separate us
or it may never come at all
regardless, I am happy knowing that you are there,
and that you care.
