of suns and moons
this morning as i drove to work
i saw the moon riding high in the sky
shining brightly, it reminded me of you.
no, it was not a full moon,
just a small crescent.
it dawned on me as i watched
that i cannot always expect
all of your attention,
but like that crescent moon,
part of you is always with me
musing over this i further realized
that although the time we spend together
each day is short,
like the moon,
you are always there for me
even when we are not together.
have i been acting too much
like the sun
that represents me lately?
it appears that i have.
the sun knows that all in
our solar system revolves
around it.
i have spent too much time
believing this of myself.
i should instead have realized
that we are both parts of the
same universe and focused
on doing what the sun does best
provide light and warmth.
