An Evil empire is out to conquer the universe, shot your way through six stages of non-stop action in this classic.

You pilot a super space fighter and pick up power-ups causing your weapon to become stronger. Eventually you shoot so much stuff it's crazy, and everything gets destroyed, great game! You get to choose your weapon type at the begining. They are pretty much equal, each with its own strengths, so play around with all three and see which one you like the best. Your ships true power however relies in its charge beam, which shoots a giant fireball. If you hit the "R" button your ship with go into hyper mode, and after you fire a fully charged shot you will be able to fire really powerful blast like you would your normal gun. The downside is that your ship will have to cool down after a short time, in which you will not be able to charge a shot : small price to pay if you ask me. Use this weapon alot, it's the best thing you have.

R-Type's graphics are excellent, it features lots of cool special effects and Mode 7. Fast paced, non stop action through six levels of "Bad Guys" will keep you busy for a good while.
