Colonizing the Moon

Ok, how long has it been since we landed on the moon?
Over thirty years, and what do we have to show for it:
some rocks down here and a couple flags up there. We should
be having all kinds of space bases and such! Think about it:
vacation on the moon; interstellar bases on the moon; man builds
house on the moon!
But noooooooooooooo, here we are NOT going to the moon. Ya see,
the moon is really only a stepping stone: most of the rocket fuel
is to reach the escape velocity of Earth's gravity. If we had a
base on the moon, we could refuel there for INTERSTELLAR
TRAVEL.
But noooooooooooooo, people don't want space travel. Psh, we
haven't even discovered ways to travel at speeds close to the
speed of light! No hyper-drives, no teleportation, no cool
spaceships, no Space-Pirates, no aliens, no nothing. We have
a space station (or we are building one at the time this is
being written) and a bunch of sattelites, yeehaw.
China has plans to colonize the moon by 2010, why are
they the only country doing this? Everybody should have there
own little base up there.
In conclusion, colonize the moon, it'd be really cool!
