sock dog

Ah, the mysterious sock dog. I, like many glitterati before me, tried my hand at it. my first attempt, not pictured here, turned about a bit "special" if you know what i mean so i actually threw him away out of frustration. Don't tell PETA. I think the problem was, first off, that the sock i used was sort of an ankle sock so his legs were unusually short. then i cut it in such a way that he had a gigantic head. I think the longer legs look cuter, plus makes him very huggable and floppy. the more huggable, the better, i always say. (BTW: the pictures suck because i'm stoopid and i always forget you have to use a different little "box" on the "viewfinder" to "center" close up pictures. but you get the idea.) later he was given a grommeted collar so he could be all punk rawk and shit. i will hopefully get a picture of THAT tonight when i give sock dog to my valentine! awww.

What's that? You would like to make your own sock dog? They first appeared in the Marty Stew winter kid's issue, but that is probably not on newstands anymore. Fear not! You can get directions here. The first half of the directions and the second half are in two different PDFs for some reason. I actually kind of free formed my dog, just using Martha's directions as a guide for which part of the sock made what part of the dog.

By the way, this is not the greatest craft to bring to craft night, because everyone will laff at you and make gross jokes as you pin his legs down and sew his tail on.
