i found this charm-thing with the lady of guadalupe on it and thought, since it had a hole in it and all, that it would make an excellent necklace. i think people assume it's some sort of catholic religious thing when i wear it, because my last name sounds italian and i look like i should be catholic, but it's not. well not for me. anyway. she has spiritual significance in mexico i think, and i'm kind of embarrassed that i don't know this, even though i have the necklace *and* a devotional candle in my room! i'm just a catholic poser, aren't i. ANYWAY. i just strung some pretty sheer ribbon through the hole, strung the ribbon through a bead, and voila! a necklace. sorry the picture is so crappy; i'm no photographer, obviously, and that's why it's so frickin blurry. this other necklace is made from a glass chandelier crystal. i get so many compliments on it, and it's so fun to say "hey thanks, i made it" and bask in their admiration. the two crystals were wired together with some ugly gold stuff, so i took thatapart, wired them back together with copper wire and some red glass beads as separators, and made a little loopy thing on top where i could string the ribbon, this time black wide sheer stuff. i like to use ribbon for two reasons: first, i don't know how to bead, and second, you can change the length of the necklace depending on your neckline. yay! go back to craft index go home |
