Granted, a first look at Robotech 3000 can reveal a very disgusting idea: That this series hold little-to-no resemblance to the original Robotech series. This, unfortunately, is an affliction which seems to affect ninety percent of Robotech fans, and though the next statements may sound deliberately and maliciously derrogatory, they are merely intended to express an insight as to Robotech 3000's failure amongst the fandom.

Knowledge of 3000 is, at this point, pretty-much limited to the preview trailer offered by Harmony Gold; the trailer displays non-transformable worker mecha (a la Destroids) and little else. As such, foul criers site this directly as a design flaw of the would-be series: No transformable mecha. But, in the end, those who say this are those with little insight and imagination with regards to Robotech--they believe only what they see, and lack a feeling for how the Robotech world actually FEELS.

Metaphorically, they have travelled through Macross City alongside Rick Hunter because the camera followed him in the series, but have never attempted to travel by themselves.

Dislike of Robotech 3000 is mainly focused within Robotech purists, though this is by no means all-inclusive, as many fans (as said, about ninety-percent) show these feelings. The reason that purists dislike the idea of 3000 is basically because, by creedo or instruction, they selectively choose to ignore all sources of Robotech stories that are not sanctioned by Harmony Gold. The purists deny all kinds of stories (comics, novels, role-playing-games, etc.) and so, Robotech 3000's current status as non-canon material with regard to the Robotech story leaves them with no choice but to deny the story. This is their choice, just as it is others' to accept non-canon stories, but sadly, it is because of the purists' dominance within the Robotech community (over fifty percent) that spreads a dislike of 3000, closing others' eyes that may have otherwise given the series some chance.

This is a plague--that Purism should force its ideals upon others simply as an unconscious result of their population size, and sadly, the only remedy is the small voice of other fans who advocate an open mind with regard to the story.

And so, we are back where we started: Having an open mind. With Robotech 3000, it is a must, as an entire viewing of the series is only possible through one's own insight and deductions made from the minute level of available information. Gamma Fighters, science outposts, renegade protoculture--only if the person is capable of creating a new series based upon a few ideas can he truly envision Robotech 3000. If he cannot, then he will dislike it, as a three minute television series is quite unsatisfying. However, in the hands of the capable, Robotech 3000 can soar.

Shooting down wounded birds exclusively for sport is in poor taste.
So is genocide.
It is not your job to clean the universe of Robotech 3000. It is our job to create that universe.
It is our job to fly the latest Veritech fighters.
See you in the skies.
