Perspectives of Universe 3000
By Khyron_Prime...10 June 2004

As I write this, I find that the existence of Robotech 3000 can take several different paths. For example, for me, as one who believes in the stories of the series "Robotech II: The Sentinels," the story of Robotech 3000 may be much more vivid than one who exclusively follows the recognised Robotech storyline, and we both would be different than one who only viewed the series through the eyes of the Macross Saga, which I find to be a major occurrence in smaller circles of Robotech fandom. So, in thinking over this and in recognition of Robotech 3000's excellent design, I believe that no fan, whatever his affiliation in the world of fandom, should be excluded from 3000 due to that affiliation.
     "Let them eat protoculture," said Khyron_Prime, as he lifted a bag of leaves from his officer's pod control panel.
     And indeed, here for any clarification, is your guide to different views of Robotech 3000. Whatever your perspective on the universe, you too can enjoy this series, and I hope that this discussion can aid you in your cosmic travels.

Sincerely,
Khyron_Prime

THE MACEK PERSPECTIVE
Included Materials: Robotech (original television series); Robotech II: The Sentinels (original television story)

As Robotech 3000 was created from the perspective of Carl Macek, the original creator of Robotech, there is nothing to be changed from the original designs of Robotech 3000. In this vision, the stories, places, and people presented in the fallen television series, "Robotech II: The Sentinels" are treated as fact. This list includes the planets of Haydon IV, Garuda, Kabarra, Spheris, Peryton, New Praxis (formerly Optera), and the Robotech Masters' homeworld of Tirol, in addition to all of the peoples introduced in the series. Therefore, this system of planets, known collectively as the "Local Group" exists as an entity known to the Earth and its peoples as a result of the returning forces from the Robotech Expeditionary Force as shown in the final stages of the original Robotech television series.

THE CANONIST PERSPECTIVE
Included Materials: Robotech (original television series)

As the official storyline of Robotech no longer acknowledges the existence of events taken place in
Robotech II: The Sentinels, the world presented in Robotech 3000 must operate without the necessary inclusion of the Local Group. However, as the official canon does not dictate that the Local Group does not exist, nor does it explicitly contradict anything taken place in The Sentinels, there is the option to include those materials. As a result, the Canonist perspective includes the existence of the Robotech Expeditionary Force and the voyage (but not the design) of the Robotech Masters' homeworld, yet forces the decision to be made as to A) include The Sentinels, if even on a conditional design; B) create new alien lives encountered by humankind; or C) not include any alien life outside of the Zentraedi. If the first choice to include information from The Sentinels is not chosen, then the character Arroq must be deleted from the storyline, redesigned to fit a new race, or otherwise restructured from his Spherisian deisgn.

THE MACROSS PERSPECTIVE
Included Materials: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross (original television series);
or Robotech: The Macross Saga (original television series portion).

[Note: Whether or not you can believe this, the author truly disapproves of this notion!]
From the perspective of a lover of the original Macross series, the future setting of Robotech 3000 (a.k.a. Macross 3000) presents a future in which the Colonisation Fleets have been exploring the outer-reaches of space for about 988 years. By this time, the colonies formed through these missions has reached far throughout the cosmos, as geographic settlements like Planet Eden and mobile colonies like Macross 7 place humans and Zentraedi in all places. The known aliens to human life are Zentraedi and Protodevilin, of which relationships have already been set. As a result, the alien being known as Arroq must be redesigned to fit or deleted from the story of Macross 3000. [In extreme cases so as to prevent a full removal, he can be redesigned as a Protodevilin who took-in too much spirit energy.] In addition, the existence of the powersource known as "Protoculture" must be renamed in order to fit with the meaning of the term in the Macross universe--suggested titles include "Overtech Germination," "Lifeblood of Protoculture," and "Overfuel." [An additional possibility is to design a pre-story taking place between 2050 and the story's beginning so as to have the newer designs of Overtechnology (such as Valkyries) reach such a limit that they can no-longer operate upon the fuels used in generations of Overtechnology prior to that period.]
