| Fate of a Man | ||||||||||||||
| She had eyes of blue, a crinkly smile. Hair of silver, Time for a while To help another deep in doubt Reaching in faith to pull him out. In the pit he sank deeper still Until she smiled, his heart to heal. Until she reached into his life And gave him the woman he called his wife. A man whose life would have been destroyed A path of destruction whom the devil toyed. Then the old woman came; invited him to church. He shrugged it off; left her in the lurch. Three times she came to invite him in, Hoping that Christ, His soul would win. Then it happened. He found the Lord. His Word cut deep as a two-edged sword. Soon the old woman was too feeble to go. Her daughter stepped in, a new light to show. He found a desire akin to fate. Asked her out and they made a date. The old woman smiled her crinkly smile, Knew she was left here for just a short while. Wedding bells chimed; spring time in May. Three hearts were bonded in love that day. Blue eyes faded, locked in death. Two hearts mourned as she took her last breath. Two hands held tight; two faces held tears. Bade her good-bye; thanked God for these years. Lived a full life in the faith of the one Who had left him a legacy, who had called him her 'son.' Brown eyes faded, locked in death. One heart mourned as he took his last breath. Blue eyes met him, a smile wide and bright, As he made his way to a brilliant white light. Heaven rejoiced! The angels sang! And a Savior's voice called him by name! Because of a woman with a crinkly smile, Blue eyes of wisdom, and a faith worthwhile. |
