Pablo's Martial Arts Page

I've been studying Shorin Ryu Kenshin Kan(now Matsumura Seito) since 1987. One would think I'd be better. I've had the opportunity to train in many places(have you done kata over a nuclear reactor? Oh really? At depth...?) and with a variety of wonderful folks.

I'm a firm believer in cross-training, but I have no time for Mixed Martial Arts wackos. The competition nutcases aren't training in martial arts, just to get the crap beaten out of them. They're missing out on the experience that traditional MA training offers. Why carry a chip because you picked a McDojo, originally...

McDojos - Okay look, I have no issue with instructors that have worked hard and feel they need to teach. That's me, with the exception of the hard work part. I also have no issue with instructors making a few bucks off the deal, if they choose. I plan on enjoying what I do and hopefully there might be a small stipend. I have no time for schmucks that aim to fleece anyone walking in the door or focus their school on pure profit.

I've read the MA marketing magazines. They make me crazy. Once you open up a dojo in a rental location or any other place where there is monthly overhead you can either decide to eat it or pass it on to the students. If you do that, you've gotta do what you gotta do to make the bills. That there opens the door to compromising the art.

The thing that really grates my cheese is when some folks will throw together the brief training they've had in a few styles, become  "Soke" or something and charge out the ass for crap training. Go to the Bullshido site and look at some of the featured sites. Some of these cats can't see their own feet, much less teach someone how to kick with them!! The pics of the school show a huge facility, mats etc. Then check the prices...and people pay it!!!
