| Koss and Sons Apiary Frequently Asked Questions Where can I buy Koss and Sons wildflower honey? Our honey is sold in several locations in the Mobile, AL area. - Lowe's Fruit Stand on Hwy. 90 in Theodore. - Lowe's Fruit Stand on Old Shell Rd. in Mobile. - Country Boy Curb Market on Three Notch Rd. in Tillman's Corner. - Tiny Diny Restaurant on Hall's Mill Rd. in Mobile. - The Health Food Center on Hwy. 90 in Tillman's Corner. Is Koss and Sons Wildflower Honey produced locally? Yes. Most of our beeyards are in Mobile County, AL. We do have one beeyard in Escambia County, AL near Perdido, AL. Is your honey "cooked" or otherwise processed? Our liquid honey is not "cooked" or heated to extreme temperatures. It is strained after extraction from the honey comb and stored until bottling time. All pure honeys, given sufficient time, will granulate or "go to sugar." At bottling time, this granulated honey is warmed just enough to bring it back into its liquid state, then bottled. We use as little heat as possible so as to provide a top quality honey. We want to mention that should you find that your honey has granulated or "gone to sugar", don't worry! The honey is still fine! You may want to try the granulated honey as a no-drip spread for toast and biscuits. Or you could just place the container in a pot of hot (not boiling) water until liquified. We suggest you loosen the cap or open the flip top lid to allow pressure in the bottle to escape while warming. What products do you offer? We currently offer liquid Wldflower Honey in the following sizes: - 12 oz. honey bear. - 1 lb. jar. - 2 lb. jar. - 3 lb. jug (approx. 1 qt.) We also have a 1 lb. jar of "chunk comb" honey(a "chunk" of pure comb honey immersed in liquid honey. Delicious!) We hope to introduce "Creamed Honey" soon. Creamed honey is nothing more than honey that has been allowed to granulate in a controlled fashion. The fine crystallization of this product makes it a tasty spread without the sticky drips that often occur when using liquid honey. The only ingredient is pure honey! Can I swallow the wax while enjoying comb honey? Yes, you can. I usually just chew it like I would chewing gum, and dispose of it after all the honey flavor is gone. I recommend that you honey lovers out there that have not tried comb honey give it a try. There is no honey more pure than honey stored in the comb, just the way it was in the hive. Delicious!!! |
