QUESTION:I am the owner of a 9-month-old GSP and I also have two small children 3yrs and 5 yrs. We got the pup at 8 weeks old and there has never been a problem until the past month. My dog has started snarling and growling at my children and other children for no reason that I can see. For example, today my daughter was petting him, and then all of a sudden he snarled and showed his teeth. She told me this, so I had him sit and asked her to pet him again and to my surprise he snarled at her again. I took my newspaper and spanked him and put him in his crate for 30 mins. I am not sure if what I did was correct or not (the spanking with a newspaper). I have watched your basic obedience training video and it has helped me train him.
