The film bagged the Rajat Kamal for best Regional Film in the National Film Festival in 1993. The film also bagged the Best Screen play Award and Khun Joykumar Best Actor in the 2nd Manipur State Film Festival in 1994.

Joy and Ibeni are cousins. Cousins cannot marry in meitei society but their fates destined so. The Society accuse them of immortal conduct. It happened that found Joy trying to commit suicide by hanging after his bride eloped with another person on the day of marriage. As face-saving tactics they eloped. But they had to face scorn and castigation from the village folks, which made them, leaves the village for good to Tamenglong. On an occasion they return home. On the way Ibeni gives birth to a baby boy who grow and the son had to leave his parents to save them from further blame and humiliations.

The search for the son took Joy and Ibeni to a town in the mountain. The people were friendly, but when came to situations which infringed on their costumes and traditions it was a nightmare as it happened when a cremation ground to perform the last rites of Joy was not sanctioned. Joy and Ibeni seems to be resigned to a fate of misfortune and hardship.
