Psychometry is a psychic power that enables one to divine many facts by holding objects. It is much like reading palms, crystal balls, tea leaves and auras.

Forty-eight year old Clara found that power after she became widowed, and found herself owning an Antiques shop that had many ghosts in those old things she was about to sell. When her son wants her to come live with him and his wife in New York, she refuses. she wants her independence. A friend helps her get the Antique shop up and running, then helps her run it. The owner of the coffee shop close by falls in love with her and helps save her from terrorist who want a box left with her by  mysterious man who is murdered by the terrorist. One of the ghosts she had encountered, also comes back to help save her from possible harm or death. Clara falls in love with Charley the coffee shop owner and her new life begins.

Many stories are told by some of these ghosts involving the way they died or were murdered. Clara becomes involved with many of them.
