The German Shepherd is indeed an impressive breed- noble and handsome in appearance, highly alert, and always full of life. However, before choosing a Shepherd either for showing or as a pet, make sure that you are the right owner for such an energetic and spirited dog.
German Shepherds are large dogs which thrive on physical and mental activity. Consider acquiring one only if you can provide it with space, exercise, and attention it needs. Bored german shepherds lead unhappy lives, and through frustration may tend to be vocal and even destructive. Properly cared for, this vigorous, responsive breed can be among the most rewarding of all dogs to own.
The beautifully proportioned German Shepherd has a powerful, supple body reflecting its development as a versatile working dog. Alert, tractable, and steady in character, the shepherd is dedicated to its master and composed with strangers. A resilient spirit, calm self-confidence, and superb looks are among the qualities that distinguish this fine breed.
Every dog has its own personality, moulded in part by its experiences within the litter, and later with you. Heredity is the other important factor, brining both positive and negative traits for each breed. Overall, the German Shepherd's devoted spirited character has made it an enduring favourite.
The typical german Shepherd is black with tan or gold markings, yet they can also be all black, white or sable- with black- tipped hairs on tap, gold, grey, or silver. White and long coated dogs are frowned upon in the show ring. Curiously, coat colour may have a slight bearing on personality.
Your Shepherd depends on you for its good health. Since it cannot tell you that something is wrong, you must observe how your dog moves and behaves; any changes in activity or regular habits may be warning signs of problems. And always take your dog to the vet for its yearly needles and annual check-ups.
This is my dog! Jessie!! I thought I should show you coz she is a german Shepherd too! I'm lucky to have her. I love her so much! :D
