Kyle is a very hardy 14 year old pied cockatiel. He was supposed to have been an handfed bird, but he's not a very nice bird. He does have his nice moments, but that's not too often. For 11 years he was the only bird in the house until I got another parakeet. Kyle only learned to say three words/phrases when he was a baby later dropping one phrase completely. See more pictures of Kyle here.

Phoenix just turned 3 years old in October of 2003. I purchased him in December of 2000. My last parakeet (an albino named, Angel) died in December of 1990 so I was really craving the singing and clown-like behavior of a parakeet again. When Phoenix was a baby, he was a beautiful aqua color (which is the main reason I bought him) with a pretty blue around his collar and in his wings. The dark areas of his wings are deep teal. As he grew his adult feathers in he changed a bright pretty green all over. He's still a beautiful bird in my opinion. See more pictures of Phoenix here.

In the summer of 2001 after searching everywhere for a Rosey Bourke's Parakeet, I got Fantaszy (along with Rosebud, my mother's bird) from a breeder in Seattle, Washington. Fantaszy and Rosebud spent 10 long hours in a shipping box by the time I let them out in the car on the way home from the Pittsburgh International Airport. Fantaszy was 7 weeks old and Rosebud was 5 1/2 weeks old, both parent-raised. Unfortunately, Fantaszy passed away in the Spring of 2003 and Rosebud just passed away on October 10th, 2003. I will miss Fantaszy terribly for she was the sweetest thing! She would have been two on July 16, 2003 and Rosebud turned two July 27, 2003. Fantaszy was Rosebud's aunt. See more pictures of Fantaszy here. See more of Rosebud here.

Shannara, a male Normal Bourke's Parakeet, came from SU-JON's Birds in Erie, Pennsylvania just two days after I recieved the Rosey Bourke's, Fantaszy and Rosebud. He will turn 3 in July of 2004. Shannara was a handfed baby, which made him very sweet and adorable right from the beginning! He fit right into the family with no problems. He learned his name in two days and soon after was repeating my whistles and talking. He only learned to say two words (he learned them from my cockatiel), but he says them very loudly! He was VERY fond of Rosebud and I can tell her misses her a lot. He still looks for her around the house. See more pictures of Shannara here.

Skyye joined the "bird family" in April of 2002. She is a blue parakeet with a yellow head. I observed her before I bought her and determined she was already a clown. I just had to have her! I bought her for my nephew, Nicholas but she lives with me since my sister already has two collies and a cat. Skyye learned to say "bird", but has no interest in learning anything else other than what she can get into next. Skyye turned 2 in January 2004. See more pictures of Skyye here.

Xterra, named after the Nissan truck, was purchased in August of 2002. I bought her for my nephew, Derick and he named her Xterra after a yellow, toy Nissan. She is a very bright, yellow parakeet with a patch of spring green on her lower abdomen and back. Xterra is missing a toenail on one toe (it's a little stub) which makes her more special to me. She is such a sweet bird. She and Phoenix hit it off right away. Xterra can say a couple of words. Xterra turned 2 in June of 2004. See more pictures of Xterra here.

Odyssey (now 7 months old) was purchased from C&B Birds (Oakmont, PA) on May 13, 2003. I had to choose from two of these beautiful Rosey Bourke's parakeets which wasn't easy being that they were both super sweet! I finally chose Odyssey. He's my little buddy throughout the day. The first week he was here he started imitating Shannara's whistles and has since learned to say "sweetie bird" and "pretty bird." He also imitates my cockatiel's little whistling noises. He is such a sweetheart I can't imagine not owning him. See more pictures of Odyssey here.

Our Meyer's Parrot, named Ayszah, was purchased from C&B Birds also. He'll be one year old on August 28th. He is very sweet most of the time, but he gets territorial with my nephew's and can be nippy. Overall, he's a nice bird to have around. He eats ANYTHING you hand him. He loves eggs, cataloupe, grapes, apples, watermelon, broccoli and more. His best buddy is my parakeet, Phoenix. They love to play together and nibble beaks. See more pictures of Ayszah here. |

Diamond was acquired the same week as Ayszah from a local pet store. I swore I would never buy another albino parakeet (I miss a past albino bird so bad), but I couldn't resist. My mother bought her for me as an early Christmas present in December of 2003. She fit right into the bird family. Her name is fitting because she changes colors (blues and lavenders) in the sun. See more pictures of Diamond here.
