God – Real or a Believe

Robin Abraham

GOD, what’s the meaning of the word? This is the word or the phenomena which put man in ambiguity from the starting of mankind and still now.

  1. Any supernatural being worshipped as controlling the universe or some aspect of life or who is the personification of a force.

2. A man of such superior qualities that he seems like a deity to other people.

  1. The supernatural being conceived as the perfect and omnipotent and omniscient originator and ruler of the universe; the object of worship in monotheistic religions.

Years and years back, life originated in earth. As science says, one cell organism originated first, then dinosaurs, monkey……. and human being. Still the evolution continues, science tells.

In the Stone Age, our ancestors haven’t worshiped God. Later, they started worshiping thunder, mountains, lightening…because they were afraid of that all. Later they started worshiping rain, trees, …to get good yield in cultivation. Later, as human beings been civilized, they arranged their worships and assigned some meanings to his worship. The intellectuals in their civilization recognized that, religion is best way to control his activities. Later several religions sprang up.

The religions that we have at present came to being, just 2000 or 4000 years above. Then what about our ancestors? If there is a last judgement, according to religions, what stand will be taken to tribals and early civilization peoples who didn’t even know about God? Which religion is true? Hinduism? Buddhism? Christianity? Islam?…..?? Which one should we follow?

A lot of difference can be seen in the society. Rich-Poor, Educated-illiterate, …a lot of difference. Why people come to earth as handicapped? What mistake he has done? Whose fault that a person born in earth in poor family and whose merit that a person bores in rich family?

Peoples doing a lot of evils. Is the punishments given to them is sufficient? Will it equalize the evil they had done? Why this happens? A person killing 10 people and 100 people will get the maximum punishment – hang to death. Does both the crimes are equal? A lot of injustice we can see in the world. Who is responsible of all this? God?!

But I believe in God.

Because: -

  1. It gives me confidence.
  2. I need a hope in life (similar to Utopia), that the religion is giving.
  3. It gives me satisfaction.
  4. After doing the religious things I get refreshed.
  5. Religious functions acts as a stage for communion (get-together).
  6. I can blame God for my mistakes and fate.
  7. By believing in God, there is a chance of getting a membership in heaven & why should I waste it?
  8. For me, it works…
