LINE SEGMENT
T R I S E C T I O N

To trisect a given line segment AB at P1 and P2 so that AP2=1/3 of AB.
Locate the center O of line AB. From the center, draw a circle with radius OB. At point A and B, draw another circle with radius AO and BO. The circles intersect each other at C and D. Draw a circle at A with radius AB and draw a circle at B with radius BA. The two circles intersect at E. Connect CE and DE. CE and DE intersect AB at it's trisectors.

Another way of trisecting a line segment AB.
Step 1. Draw two circles centered at A and B, with radius AB.
Step 2. Call the intersections of circle A and B, C and D. Extend line CA so that it intersects circle A. Call that point E.
Step 3. Connect E with B. Connect D and A. BE and AD intersect at F.
Step 4. Connect F with C. CF intersects AB at P1, or the trisector.
