Lo Frecuentemente Solicitado

This page contains prayers, song
lyrics, and other miscellany in
English that my students frequently
ask me for.  I have included the
Spanish version of  most of the items,
for those who are studying Spanish.

The Hail Mary

Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the
Lord is with Thee.

Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the Fruit of
thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray
for us sinners,now and at
the hour of our death.

Amen.

El Ave Mara

Dios te salve, Mara, llena eres
de Gracia, el Seor es contigo.

Bendita t eres entre las mujeres,
y bendito es el Fruto de tu
vientre, Jess.

Santa Mara, Madre de Dios,
ruega por nosotros pecadores, ahora
y en la hora de nuestra muerte.

Amn.

The words to "The Star Spangled Banner"
were originally written as a poem by Francis
Scott Key during the War of 1812 (between
the United States and Britain).  Scott watched
the night-time bombing of Fort McHenry, and
at dawn saw the American flag still flying.

The music was composed by
John Stafford Smith.

John Stafford Smith.

The Star Spangled Banner

Oh, say!  can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous night
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

Oh, say, does that star spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

The Our Father or Lord's Prayer***

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will
be done on earth as it is in
heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread, and forgive us
our trespasses as we forgive
those who trespass against
us.  And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from
evil.  [For thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory forever.]

Amen.

***
Protestants usually call this prayer
"The Lord's Prayer" and include the text
in brackets. Roman Catholics call it the
"Our Father" and usually omit the bracketed
material.

El Padre Nuestro

Padre nuestro, que ests
en el  cielo, santificado sea
tu nombre; venga tu reino,
hgase tu voluntad en la
tierra como en el cielo.
Danos hoy nuestro pan de
cada da, perdona nuestras
ofensas como tambin
nosotros perdonamos a
los que nos ofenden.
No nos dejes caer en
la tentacin, y lbranos
del mal.
Amn
