Cheap Trick started in the late 60s, as a band called Fuse, which was formed by Rick Nielson and Tom Petersson. They released an album in 1969, which didn't do to good. Eventually, the band moved to Philadelphia, and changed their name to "Sick Man of Europe".
After an unsuccessful tour of Europe in 1972, they returned to Illinios in 1973, and changed their name to the one that we now know: Cheap Trick. They added drummer Bun E. Carlos, and singer, Randy "Xeno" Hogan Hogan only lasted for a year. He was fired in 1974, and that's when ex-folksinger, Robin Zander, joined the group.
Between 1975-1977, the band toured with the likes of The Kinks, KISS, Santana, AC/DC, and Queen.
The band eventually signed with Epic in 1976, and released their self-titled debut in 1977. |
