| My second attempt to make April | ||||||||||
| I made a beautiful April page with the new software but an adventurous flourish, and I lost it. I am now using the familiar software and will just type and put pictures at the bottom. Already April 8th but I have been to Canberra for Jessie's birthday. It has been a very warm April after a chilly finish to March. There has been rain since my return and most of the leaves are still on the oaks. I went out last night to retrieve the forgotten washing at 7.30pm (my unbelievable bed-time)and I could not see the stars in the northern sky through the leaves but looking south even the city lights did not dim the Southern Cross. Scaredy survived my trip to Canberra with a hoard of dry food. She was cross when I returned and slashed at me. She is, however pleased to see me back and I have bought milk for her. She likes warm milk best! She is not there when I go out to feed her at 7.30pm because she has not yet grasped the fact that daylight saving has finished! From my computer room I saw the juvenile Kookaburra sitting in the oak tree. He is now fully fledged but still compact and smugly waiting in his high chair hoping Mum will feed him. I did not see her but witnessed a perfect flight from her baby when he swooped towards the railway line. I am hoping for a pic of Jessie on her 8th birthday. The Queenslanders went for a beach holiday. It is much warmer up there in April. I love what I have written for April 2005 so it is now 2006 and I will just continue........ Already it is April 6th as the days flash past. Most of my time until now has been taken with planning the big o'seas trip. This does not occur until June and it will be July before I am back with all my photos and movies to play with and update the Advent calendar and make a big new movie. I have had a tick attack. I have thought for the last 3 or 4 years that insect bites which gave me a big allergic reaction were the work of spiders which I usually enjoy and leave them to weave their way through my garden. However when over 30 bites occured simultaneously I knew something else was eating me. It seems in conjunction with knee high garden which is definitely me and the possums which are the host for ticks that I become a tasty meal. The itch is uncontrollable and the reaction very ugly but now I am more aware I am able to walk straight through the spiders webs but am covered with Rid which the ticks do not like and I may soon be able to enjoy my garden again. This is autumnal and we have had the temperature down to 14 degrees at night hopefully beginning to discourage the ticks. There's a laugh for the Northern Hemisphere readers whose maximum in spring hasn't yet gone anywhere near 14. |
