
| The steamship New Orleans was chartered in March 1915, by
Merchants and Miner's,
to the Baltimore and Carolina Steamship Company for trading out of
Baltimore
to Wilmington, Georgetown, and Charleston. That charter lasted until May 4, 1915
when the New Orleans was sold to the Boca Grande Steamship
Company. |
| After lying idle at Philadelphia for several months, the Merchants and
Miner’s liner New Orleans, which was withdrawn from the
Philadelphia and Providence
service when the line was discontinued, has been chartered by the
Baltimore and
Carolina Steamship Company. The New Orleans will trade between Baltimore to Wilmington,
Georgetown
and Charlestown, taking the place of the steamship Henry Williams
now on voyage from
Savannah to Bremen with a cargo of cotton (3/17/15) |
| The Merchants and Miners Trans Company steamer New Orleans has
been sold to
Southern purchasers for future delivery. The steamer is now under charter with
the
Baltimore and Carolina Steamship Co., on the route from Baltimore
to Wilmington,
Georgetown & Charlestown, the charter expiring May 1st. The New
Orleans is an iron,
three-masted steamer built by Pusey & Jones, Wilmington, Del in
1872. She registers
1564 tons gross and is 249 feet long. (4/20/15) |
The Merchants and Miners Transportation Co.’s steamship
New Orleans with
for years has been trading between Philadelphia and southern ports, has been
sold
to John Lawrence, Birmingham, Ala. She is now under charter to the
Baltimore and
Carolina Steamship Co., but will be released in May.
