Cundiff Cemetery is located on FM 1810 in Jack County, Texas.  From the Jack County Courthouse in Jacksboro take State Hwy 59 North to FM 1810 - that's 9.3 miles.  Prior to a sign indicating FM 1810 you will see a sign that says "Chico" and directs you to turn right.  Turn right on FM 1810 and continue on for 3.5 miles.  The cemetery will be on the right side of the road.  You can either pull off the road and park on the shoulder or there is a gravel road on the West side of the cemetery where you can park.  The cemetery appears closed when you first arrive, but the gates are unlocked.

There is also a gate on the North side of the cemetery by the road (FM 1810).  By this gate is a metal box.  There are  names and phone numbers of the Cundiff Cemetery Association board members, along with pens and a notepad.  One lady has left some information on a family that she is looking for.  If you visit the cemetery and would like some information or to receive a reminder for Decoration Day you may leave it in this box.  Decoration Day is Mother's Day each year.

I would suggest taking some kind of black powder if you are going to be photographing some of the older headstones.  I've heard of flour being used to enhance the carvings on a dark stone, but a lot of these older stones are light in color.

For more information about Cundiff Cemetery you can contact the association at (940) 567-2978 or (940) 567-2779.

I parked on the gravel road on the west side of the cemetery so all the row numbers mentioned begin from there. The cemetery is about 30 rows deep.  Between rows 15 and 16 is where the path crosses for the North Gate.  This is by no means a complete listing of the cemetery.  It is only my family members. If you are looking for a complete listing you can check on the Jack County, Texas US Gen Web page.

Mrs. Lindsay is the beginning branch for the family buried here.  She is the mother of J A Welch, Bart Lindsay, and Katie Beeler Bobbitt.  Katie and Jerry Bobbitt's daughter Mollie married Hezie Lowe.  Not to be confused with Katie's sister Mollie who married W A Harrell.  The Harrell headstones pictured on the bottom  of this page are descendents of Mollie Beeler and W A Harrell.
