Background History
PHASE ONE
Torturhaus was formed in the heart of winter of '97 when Anglesey misfits Gheldusios and Louis Robiche met at a rural drinking establishment.
Demoralised by the lack of alternative bands in the area, and both with an insatiable appertite for horror, and all things twisted and demented, the pair decided to turn this disfunction and dispair into a musical chaos movement.
Both had worked with early incarnations of metal and goth bands in the past, with Gheldusios having played guitar for the likes of Skinflick, Hatework and Entity, whilst Louis Robiche had played bass for a band that would finally become Ankst Music's Wendykurk.
The first line up included Patrick Lee on drums, Matthew Watkins of Wendykurk on bass, Gheldusios on guitar and Louis Robiche on vocals.
However that line up fell appart rapidly and Gheldusios and Louis Robiche went back into their underground studio.
Fuelled by an unquenchable thirst for everything vampyric from Wilde to Rice and copious amounts of alcohol, a first demo was cut, including early versions of the staple tracks 6,000 years and Dominion.
In 1999 Hywel Cross joined. He had played with several local bands and was well up for the job. Though originally on bass, Hywel changed to drums after the group decided it was difficult to find a decent tub thumper in the barren land that surrounded them. In 2000 Hywel's brother Ieuan Jones was added to the line-up and quickly wrote severalinfernal opuses.
A second demo was cut containing In the Realm of Darkness (Robiche) Crimson Nightfall (Robiche) Carpathian Moonlight (Jones/Robiche) & Thieves in the Temple (Jones/Robiche).
The band followed up the release with three gigs at Bangor University, with performances utilising animal entrails, chalices of blood and plenty of orchestrated mayhem.
Simon of Amlwch took up live bass playing roles for these gigs.
In 2001 the internal arguments and revene in musical differences resulted in the band splintering. Carpathia was formed by Hywel, Ieuan and Simon, whilst Louis Robiche and Gheldusios went back into the studio to record new material with a more darkwave feel. Carpathia continued to gig over the next year (to visit them go to www.carpathia.da.ru).

PHASE TWO
In 2004 Patrick001 joined Torturhaus to write a single, however that idea was quickly shelved in favour of a new EP. Make no mistake Torturhaus are back darker, louder and more extreme than ever before and are recording their first ever industrial tinged cyber goth metal release as we speak. Will be out pretty soon on MP3 and CD format we hope! For more details please e-mail us.
