| All prison cells are scattered throughout this corridor. The corridor itself is full of twists & turns & stretches the entire length of Azkaban. Cells are located on the upper level of Azkaban because to exit the prison, inmates would have to decend to ground level from inside (since there are no windows or outside exits on this floor). By having to depart in this fashion, they are sure to be caught before they reach the front doors (which incidentally are the ONLY doors in or out of Azkaban). Cells are spaced 20 feet apart from one another to keep inmates from communicating among themselves. Communication among inmates is strictly prohibited & offenders lose all their meals for 2 days if they are caught. |
