The cafeteria is not designed to feed the entire inmate population at one time. The reason for this is so that the inmates have very little contact with anyone except dementors & the occasional visitor that might come calling (such as yourself). Dementors escort inmates one by one to the cafeteria where they are given a total
of 15 minutes each to eat their meals. While this might sound like it would take all day for this process to take place, it actually only takes the span of 1 hour, 3 times per day. You see, most of the inmates here are too weak or mad to be let out of their cells,
therefore the majority of the inmate population remain in their cells at all times. |
