Balls
   The Quaffle
The Quaffle is the oldest of the 3 balls in Quidditch. Originly it was the only ball. The Quaffle is about the size of a football, made leather and red in colour. Originly the Quaffle had finger holes or a strape, but that was before the descovery of gripping charms in 1875 (gripping charms). Also in 1711 a witch called Daisy Pennifold had the idea of bewitching the Quaffle so that it fell slowly downwards (like sinking through water) if dropped.

The Bludgers
The first bludgers were actually flying rocks caved into balls, however these could be cracked by magically reinforced beater bats, and by the end of a game the players would be chased by flying gravel. After a while Quidditch teams tried experimenting with metal bludgers, lead was found to be to soft and eventually iron was found to be the prefect, and is still used today.

The Snitch

The Snitch is a golden, walnet-sized ball. Bewitched to evade capture as long as possible.
