Whether you're looking to purchase a home computer for the first time, or thinking about upgrading your present system, it's very important to remember the "usage value"! In other words, DON'T overbuy! Many people get caught up in the "newer, faster, better" trap, and spend hundreds of dollars more than necessary to achieve the desired results! Here are a few tips that might prove cost effective:

1. Firstly, have the PC ParaMedic perform a free diagnosis of your present system. You may find that you already have a perfectly acceptable system that simply needs an inexpensive tuneup, or a minor upgrade.

2. Next, decide what you want your computer to do for you (e.g. word processing, internet access, e-mail, burning CD's, chat, digital photography, games, desktop publishing, etc.) and have the PC ParaMedic suggest how to best achieve these.

3. Keep in mind that in most cases your internet access speed is more a function of your connection (i.e. dial-up, cable, ADSL) than of your computer. An upgrade to a faster connection may achieve the extra speed you're after.

4. Rather than purchase a new system, consider one of the many refurbished computers on the market. These are generally commercial quality PC's (better built than home PC's) that have come off lease.
