"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort." - Herm Albright

"When you're away, I'm restless, lonely, wretched, bored, dejected; only here's the rub, my darling dear, I feel the same when you are here." Samuel Hoffenstein

"While I have little to say in favor of sex (it's vastly overrated, it's frequently unneccessary, and it's messy), it is greatly to be preferred to the interminable torments of romantic agony through which two people tear one another limb from limb while professing altruistic devotion." Quentin Crisp

The big mistake that men make is that when they turn thirteen or fourteen and all of a sudden they've reached puberty, they believe that they like women. Actually, you're just horny. It doesn't mean you like women any more at twenty-one than you did at ten."
                 Jules Feiffer

"I can't understand why more people aren't bisexual. It would double your chances for a date on Saturday night." Woody Allen

"I'd love to kiss you, but I just washed my hair."
Bette Davis in Cabin in the Cotton

"The splendour of human life, I feel sure,is greater to those who are not dazzled by the divine radiance."
                 [Bertrand Russell]

"To say that you can love one person all your life is just like saying that one candle will continue burning as long as you live."                 Leo Tolstoy

"The tragedy is not that love doesn't last.  The tragedy is the love that lasts." Shirley Hazzard

"To save the world requires faith and courage: faith in reason, and courage to proclaim what reason shows to be true."
[Bertrand Russell, "The Prospects of Industrial Civilization"]

"Love is a universal migraine, A bright stain on the vision, Blotting out reason."                 Robert Graves

"Love is the child of illusion and the parent of disillusion."            Miguel De Unamuno

"Love is the self-delusion we manufacture to justify the trouble we take to have sex."                 Dan Greenburg

                 "...A constant interrogation."      Milan Kundera

                 "...A mutual misunderstanding." Oscar Wilde

"Love is the affection of a mind that has nothing better to engage it." THEOPHRASTUS

"Love ain't nothing but sex misspelled."                 Harlan Ellison

"Love is the irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired." Robert Frost

                 "A grave mental disease." PLATO

"Romantic love is mental illness. But it's a pleasurable one. It's a drug. It distorts reality, and that's the point of it. It would be impossible to fall in love with someone that you really SAW."
                 Fran Lebowitz

"Love is like an hourglass, with the heart filling up as the brain empties." Jules Renard

But I also agree with this:

"IT IS BETTER TO HAVE LOVED AND LOST THAN NEVER TO HAVE LOVED AT ALL." Annon.

Most of the above quotes are taken from the book  A Curmudgeon's Garden of Love by Jon Winokur--A Plume book

"Hypocrisy is the vaseline of social intercourse."

"The question of the truth of a religion is one thing, but the question of its usefullness is another. I am as firmly convinced that religions do harm as I am that they are untrue."
Bertrand Russell, "Why I Am Not A Christian"    1957
