| Welcome to the home page of Linda, Bob, Sally and Zach Watts. We have returned from three years on the Silk Road in the exotic Uzbekistan, in the heart of the now politically unstable region of Central Asia. We enjoyed our life in among the lovely people there, in the charming, if a bit rundown, capital. However, the failure of the Uzbek government to let go of the repressive mechanisms learned from the Soviet state and centuries of rule by often brutal khans has made the situation very difficult. We may have just seen the start with the suicide bombings in March and July 2004 and other acts, and for us it was a good time to leave. We are settled back in suburban DC, in Fairfax, VA where we are all hard at work at the State Department and in school. |
