Introduction- This is a challenging and skillful
sport, that puts you in direct competition with the immense power of the waves,
that, if given half the change, will throw you around like a rag-doll.
Surfing is more physically demanding that many people first
think, and more dangerous than a huge majority of other sports out there.
However, when you earn that winning wave, it's all worth it- the satisfaction of
catching that all important carrying wave is amazing, and will surely get you
hooked.
Who is it for?- Surfing can be for anyone, as long
as you believe yourself to be of a reasonable and acceptable fitness level, you
should have a great time
What do I need to get started?- Not much! A
surfboard will do! Yes, these can be expensive, so hire some before hand, and
see how you enjoy it, and how everything feels. Wetsuits are also a good buy.
Where are the best places to do this?- In the UK, the
prime places for surfing are in the south of England, mainly around Cornwall and
Devon, where the surfs fast, strong, and best of all- frequent!
