THE PRE-EXISTENCE
DID WE EXIST BEFORE WE CAME TO THIS EARTH?
WHAT WAS LIFE LIKE THERE?
WHAT WERE WE DOING?

1. First of all, we did not have a body of flesh and bones
like we do on this earth. We had bodies of spirit matter.
2. We were all brother & sisters in the pre-existence because
we had heavenly parents. Yes, we had a heavenly father
and a heavenly mother. We were born and raised in heaven
spiritually very similar to the way we are born and raised
by parents on this earth.
3. As spiritual intelligence we have existed forever. We had
no beginning.
4. Jesus Christ was our heavenly fathers first spiritual son.
He was a righteous and valiant spirit. He is our elder
brother.
5. Not all of God's spiritual children were righteous like
our elder brother. We all had our free agency even in
heaven, and some spirits disobeyed Father. Satan, one of
our elder brothers was so wicked that he convinced many to
disobey Father.
6. Just prior to man coming to this earth, a great and grand
council was held in heaven. God presented the plan of
salvation, that has existed throughout all eternity & time,
to all the spirits in heaven. We were given the choice to
accept this plan or reject it. Many spirits chose this
plan and many did not. Some spirits chose to follow a plan
that Satan presented, namely, that man would be sent to the
earth, and forced to obey God's laws thus taking away mans
free agency. Satan wanted to be our savior. Satan had so
much influence in the spirit world that he convinced 1/3
of the spirits to follow him. Jesus Christ wanted to obey
God and accept the plan of salvation, namely, that mankind
would be sent to earth and given commandments that would
bring them back to the presence of the Father, that they
would have their free agency to accept these laws or not
to accept them, that they might continue towards the goal
of eternal progression and have all that the father does
forever and ever worlds without end. Jesus Christ along
with the other 2/3 of the spirits in heaven chose to come
to this earth and accept the plan of salvation. Those
spirits that followed Satan will not have the opportunity
to come to this earth and receive a body or to return
back to the presence of the Father.
7. We knew that we needed to come to earth and experience
mortal life so that some day we could be like our
heavenly Father and have a body of flesh and bones forever.
8. Latter-Day Saints should feel very blessed to have such
knowledge of the spirit world. Other religions do not
have any revealed scripture on the matter.
9. All of us had seen God and Jesus Christ as spirits, but
the veil and our forgetfulness does not allow us to remember the
past.
10. The scriptures tell us that some spirits were more valiant
then others. From the valiant spirits only, God chose
his prophets and leaders for this earth.
11. It was decided in heaven according to our worthiness and
position in the pre-existence when, where, & under what
conditions we would be placed here on earth.
12. The spirit within everyone of us, influences the physical
body just as much as the body has influence on the spirit.
13. We knew also as spirits that when we were sent to earth,
we would be living by faith and not knowledge.
14. Remember that animals also have spirits and co-existed with
us in heaven. They will be resurrected also. Animals were
created for man.
