CHASTITY, MORALITY, VIRTUE,
AND SEXUAL SINS

CHASTITY:
1. Pure in thought and action.
2. Innocent of unlawful sexual intercourse.
3. Being chaste implies a refraining from all acts or thoughts
that are not in keeping with marriage vows or anything that
would debase or cheapen one's virginity.
4. Being chaste also shows power over temptation for one's
actions and impulses.
5. Jacob 2:28 "For I, the Lord God, delight in the chastity of
women. And whoredoms are an abomination before me; thus
saith the Lord of hosts."
6. Moroni says that "Chastity and virtue are most dear and
precious above all things." Moroni 9:9
VIRTUE:
1. Virtue is a state of moral excellence.
2. Being totally chaste in every respect.
MORALITY:
1. Morality is conforming to a set of standards or values to
that which is right and good and virtuous.
2. Being moral ties in directly with that of being chaste and
virtuous.
Note: Every person has physical desires and appetites towards the
opposite sex. We are however, commanded to bridle these
passions within the guidelines handed down form God.
ADULTERY:
1. Unlawful sexual intercourse by one who is married to another.
2. Adulterous acts come first from the heart.
3. D & C 63:16 "...He that looketh on a woman to lust after her,
or if any shall commit adultery in their hearts, they shall
not have the spirit...."
4. It is possible to repent from adultery, but it is very difficult.
"...But he that has committed adultery and repents with all his
heart, and forsaketh it, and doeth it no more, thou shalt forgive;
but if he doeth it again, he shall not be forgiven, but shall
be cast out." D & C 42:25,26
FORNICATION:
1. Unlawful sexual intercourse by an unmarried person.
2. This I'm sure ranks very close to adultery in wickedness.
INFIDELITY:
1. Is the unfaithfulness to the marriage vows of chastity.
IMMODESTY:
1. Has to do with one's outward appearance towards the suggestion
of inward unchastity and impurity.
LASCIVIOUSNESS:
1. Has to do with the appearance and suggestiveness of one who
desires unchastity.
HOMOSEXUALITY:
1. Unlawful contact by those of the same sex.
2. This is a gross sin in the sight of God and is not sanctioned
by the church in the least degree.
NOTE: All of these sexual sins lead men and women away from God.
They debase the original intent or plan of deity; that of
an expression of love towards man & wife and that of
multiplying and replenishing the Earth.
