| Descendants of William Partridge William Partridge was born 1818 in Craigford Kent, England and died 15 May 1906,. He married Elizabeth Russell Abt 1841 in St James Church London England. She was born Brasted Kent England and died 27 May 1899. Notes for William Partridge: Extracts from the book " Camel Train , and Aeroplane ( The story of Skipper Partridge) by Arch Grant They sailed from England on the ship Lloyds a vessell of 1069 tons under the command of Captain sutherland McBeath arriving in sydney on 01 Aug 1855 The ship had sailed from Southampton on 08 May 1855 with 311 adults and 129 children. These people had responded to the publicity of the NSW Government for settlers with trade skills. William was 37 years of age: Elizabeth was 33, and their four Children, William 10, Samuel 8, Mary 7 and Elizabeth 2. William and Elizabeth had lived at Cheswick in Middlesex when they married, and later at Rotherhithe in Cheshire. They lived in Maitland for the first twelve months, and then they moved to Wollombi where William secured contracts for building. Among other things he built were the church of England at Wollombi, and also the Church at Broke ( which should be Bulga) After Completing these contracts, the family moved to the inlet at the Bulga circa 1870. The property was nothing but giant apple trees. Clearing the property and establishing citrus trees and grapes was a gigantic achievement in those early days. The property was known as "Gores Farm" The Inlet. It was sold by Vic Partridge to his son-in-law, Bob then resold, and then subdivided. The property is but a memory to the Partridge Clan. Another four children were born during the next eight years- George, Peter (who was later to become the father of Kinglsley), Sarah and Jane. |
