| Micheline is Toronto's newest neo-soul/acid jazz band. They blend the sounds of Marvin Gaye, Chaka Khan, Incognito, Al Green and a touch of Erykah Badu and create their own sound. The tunes vary from slow and sultry, to high energy. It is a collection of dynamic original music and it has a dynamite band to play it. The core members/songwriters of the group are Christine Bougie (guitar), Rob Brown (Bass) and the band's namesake and singer, Micheline Carone. Each brings their own experiences of playing with different house, R&B, Jazz, and Reggae acts and combine those experiences and sources of inspiration into their craft. The band is supported by Mark Hopkins (drums) a man who brings pop sensibility, strong Latin chops and a sense of time that is as reliable as the sunrise. And filling in the holes in the harmony, come a man with just one name: Soha (keys). Soha brings his funk, and R&B experience into the fold to create a tonal tapestry that adds the final brushes of colour to the musical canvas. Micheline has already been met with huge support and rave reviews: the band has yet to play to a club that has not been at least 70% capacity, and the people there have said things like, "incredible" and "this band has what it takes to go all the way." And this is just where Micheline is aiming. |
