A product of the Liverpool Youth acadamy, Steven is arguably one of the brightest young talents in the English game.
In November 1998 he was supprisingly called up to travel with the first team to  the UEFA Cup tie in Celta Vigo. He didnt play in Spain but made his first team bow a few days later, coming on as a substitute against Blackburn. His full debut came in the UEFA Cup return but despite the reds losing on the night Gerrard gave an outstanding performance.
Versatile enough to play at both right and left back Gerrard's performances in defence and midfield soon came to the attention of England manager Kevin Keegan and soon a call up for Euro 2000.
As well as collecting winners medals in the Worthy Cup, FA Cup and the Uefa Cup, Steven also picked up the PFA young player award and was voted as Liverpool fans player of the season.
His first goal for england in Munich. It was a magnificent strike from 25 yards in the 5-1 win over Germany in September 2002.
