Karel van de Graaf:"What a kick off was that! The favourite contestant is gone! He had six jokers and still no success. Today we'll have a weighty problem. And, very special: seven contestants will go to Amsterdam and back. And personally, I hope we'll get one of those fun mysterious phone calls from the Mole!"
Day 2 - Bariloche
The seven contestants get an old house where they'll sleep. Some
find the beds dirty. Some sleep in the same room and Milouska tries to
find a bed to sleep.
CC
Milouska:"The atmosphere has changed. Several small groups exist
and... I'm in none of them."
That evening they're in the living room. All of a sudden, Mary-Lou
shouts that she's found a message from the Mole, written on a chalkboard. She
reads it out loud:"Milouska, go outside!"
Milouska:"Who wrote that?"
CC
Toine:"The one who got the idea and executed it... was me."
Milouska:"For how long do I have to be outside
then?"
Mary-Lou:"Just stay there, maybe someone will come to you or
something?"
CC
Toine:"It was a bit of a joke to get some fire into the lame way
we're playing this game."
Milouska:"I hope this is not some kind of stupid
prank."
Mary-Lou:"No, it's just the game." Frédérique:"We're
not such sick people."
So Milouska walks outside and as she closes the door, the others
laugh.
CC
Peggy:"And right at that moment, the phone rang."
Chris answers the phone:"It's Roderick!"
CC
Chris:"It sounded like Roderick. I immediately thought it was
him."
He listens... "Is that a personal message, or..."
but the person on the other side has already hung up. The contestants want to
know what Chris heard.
Chris:"Whatever you do...." He has a long dramatic
pause. "Take the heaviest one."
Milouska walks back in again:"This is too convenient! Why did
I have to go outside? I was standing in the rain and nothing was there."
CC
Milouska:"I thought it was very strange that I got sent outside
at the exact moment Roderick called with the clue."
They ponder about what they heard... Whatever you do, take the
heaviest one.
CC
Toine:"The question remains, how to interpret that message? Is
it a clue to throw us off track? Is it a real clue to push us in the right
direction? I don't think we should just follow every mysterious phone call we
receive."
Peggy:"I just thought it would be clear when we receive the
challenge tomorrow."
Day 3 - Buenos Aires
Liz and Roderick are still practising the tango.
CC
Liz:"Who has been eliminated...? No... it's very weird to be
separated from the group. I just hope it won't work against us when we get
reunited with the group."
La Longa
The host tells them they get 90 minutes to build a raft. They have
several logs and planks and barrels and immediately start building.
Mary-Lou reminds them off yesterday's message:"Always take the
heaviest one!"
Several people have their own idea of how to build the raft.
CC
Richard:"The whole group was building the raft. No one took
charge. And when building a raft, I think someone should take charge. Someone
should say what needs to happen."
Toine:"It was a bit difficult to get everyone on the same
page, but eventually it did happen. Especially Chris had built a raft before and
knew how to do it."
Chris tells everyone his idea how to best build a raft. Milouska
disagrees and tells everyone her idea. She wants to attach all planks and wood
together and put that construction over the barrels.
Toine:"But how are you going to attach the barrels then? You need
to connect them to the construction."
CC
Frédérique:"I got a bit irritated with Milouska today... she's
lovely, really, but sometimes she's not very tactical and not very clever.
That's a bit difficult."
Chris:"Milouska isn't very clever at times. Sometimes she
does things that make you go 'My God, what were you thinking?' "
Milouska is carrying some beams with Toine, but
drops them.
CC
Richard:"But that could all be strategy! She's acting like the
fun, nice girl who messes up sometimes, but is not The Mole. But in the meantime
she is. It could be a role she's playing. And that's the difficult thing about
the game. I'm good friends with Frédérique, but she... or I... might be acting
part of that."
They are still building and constructing the raft.
CC
Richard:"I thought... I'm not technical. I can't build rafts. If
you tell me to go get wood, I'll do that. But if you don't tell me what to do, I
won't take any initiative. So I thought, you know what, I'm going to make myself
look suspicious and do nothing!"
Mary-Lou is sawing some wood and asks if Richard
wants to saw. Richard:"If you want me to saw, just tell me and I
will."
Mary-Lou:"Nah, I'm almost done anyway."
Time's up and thy have to stop, but they're happy with the raft they have
built. The host asks them to select one contestant. Chris immediately reminds
them of Roderick's message to take the heaviest one.
CC
Milouska:"I thought why take the heaviest one and what does that
mean? Does it mean we have to select Richard?"
Peggy:"You don't receive that message for nothing. It might
be to put us off track, so we have to choose the lightest or you do have to do
what Roderick said."
The group is discussing it. Toine:"Why would you
listen to that phone call?"
Chris:"Why not?"
Richard:"You answered that phone call and we just have to
believe what has been said."
CC
Chris:"I wanted to follow the message to see what would happen.
That way we also know whether we have to believe any further phone calls Liz or
Roderick make."
Peggy:"So we had this discussion about it, but Karel (the
host) said, you have to decide right now!"
They select Peggy, the lightest contestant, because they
think she has to sit on the raft.
CC
Peggy:"It was decided that person would be me, because I was the
lightest..."
The host asks them again to decide. Richard walks over to
him:"Here I am!"
Host Karel:"Is this your choice?"
Peggy, Toine and Chris agree. Milouska doesn't, but Richard
is chosen anyway.
Meanwhile, Roderick and Liz discuss their dancing
techniques in the cab. Liz tells Roderick not to take such big
steps. Roderick:"But you have to..." Liz:"Lead!
I have to let you lead me!"
Roderick:"Yeah, you're terrible."
Liz:"I know, that's my biggest mistake."
Roderick:"Have there been more guys like me, telling you to
let you lead by them? Not to be opinionated?"
Liz:"Euhm... they do tell me not to be so opinionated,
yeah."
The seven other contestants are taken to scales and Richard gets
weighed: 117 kg. The host congratulates them on their good choice. He divides
117 by 7 (the number of contestants), which is rounded down to 16. Sixteen kg is
the amount of luggage they can take with them for the rest of the show. So they
have to repack their luggage and select 16 kg out of it.
CC
Frédérique:"I had 21 kg with me! I was just selecting stuff at
random. I didn't want to think of it too much, because I would start
doubting."
And now for the assignment: a 5 km trip on the water. Their
luggage is put on the raft plus logs of wood. For every log still on the raft in
the end, they win €500.
CC
Peggy:"Next we had to attach the luggage on the raft. I had to
do that, because I was the lightest and wouldn't break the raft."
They get a real inflatable raft with a professional rafter.
There's a strong current, according to Toine.
CC
Toine:"It was very tough. Harder than I thought it would
be."
The raft gets very close to some rocks and suddenly crashes
into them. We hear a loud cracking sound, but no luggage or logs hav
e fallen
off.
CC
Peggy:"It banged into the rocks and I heard a loud CRACK! I
thought oh no, there goes our luggage, or at least a log."
Chris and Toine are rowing in the front of the
boat.
CC
Peggy:"Chris is good at rowing, that's it. Chris is good at it
and then we all presume Toine is as well, because he's our sports guy. At
least... he covers it."
Chris:"It was strenuous, that trip. It looked relaxed, but
when we had to manoeuvre, it was very tough."
Toine:"I noticed no one was working against us, so I still
think the Mole might not be in our group."
They reach the end of the 5 km trip. All luggage and logs are
still on the raft. This means they win €5,000, putting the kitty up to
€8,000.
CC
Peggy:"We won €5,000 because not a single log had fallen off.
So that was great!"
...
Karel:"Are they really that naive, or is it just an act? I mean,
following mysterious instructions without questioning? You could've transported
an elephant on the raft! They're getting rich and think it's all normal. I don't
know what that Mole is doing... Or does the Mole overestimate the group?"
...
Buenos Aires
CC
Roderick:"The chance for The Mole being in the other group is of
course bigger than The Mole being in our small group. So we're at each other's
mercy and we have to win that exemption. Otherwise... it'll all go wrong."
Fortin Chacabuco
The seven contestants travel to manège. Everyone goes inside, but when
all but two contestants are inside Chris closes the door to have some
private time with Toine. Chris:"If you give me three... of
those Mole thingies..."
Toine:"Three jokers?"
Chris:"Uhu.. hang on.. Peggy."
Peggy is behind a window behind them and laughs:"I can hear
everything!"
The short talk leads to a conversation about the jokers.
Milouska:"You still have those jokers? If all of us get 4
questions right, it doesn't mean you're safe."
Toine:"But I've got six jokers."
Peggy:"Do the decent thing out and leave, come on!"
They laugh.
Buenos Aires
The tango contestants choose some clothes to wear at their tango
contest.
Fortin Chacabuco
The contestants have a challenge about Amsterdam. First, a contestant
needs to be chosen and this is done by questions.
1. The Palace of Justice at the Prinsengracht, near the Leidse Straat,
originally had a different function. If you think it was a bank, stand to the
left. If you think it was an orphanage, stand to the right.
Milouska and Chris think it used to be a bank. But they're
wrong and are out.
2. When Ajax existed ten years, they played an anniversary match. They lost.
But to which club. Utrecht or Twente?
Richard follows Toine, because he's the sports guy. But then Toine
quickly goes to Twente and Richard stays at Utrecht and is out.
A final question to decide which contestant will have a special role.
3. Amsterdam was built on poles. How many poles are underneath the Palace on
the Dam?
Peggy: 150
Toine: 1,500
Frédérique: 3,500
Mary-Lou: 2,000
The correct answer is 13,657. So Frédérique wins and gets a special
role.
The remaining contestants have to divide into three teams of two. These are the
teams:

Milouska and Richard

Peggy and Toine

Chris and Mary-Lou
Fré
dérique is put in a hole somewhere on a large
terrain. On that terrain, the contestants have to imagine they're in Amsterdam.
Big boards of landmarks in Amsterdam are geographically positioned on the
terrain. For each team there is money at four landmarks. They have to get as
much money as possible and bring it to De Nederlandsche Bank at the
Frederiksplein. Next they have to gather at the Dam, where Frédérique
will be. They have contact with her via walki-talki and she has to help them.
The challenge starts. Chris:"Frédérique, this is the green
team. We're at Central Station."
Frédérique:"You have to bring money to De Nederlandsche
Bank. Go from Central Station to the Haarlemer Poort."
Chris and Mary-Lou depart.
Peggy and Toine are somewhere else. Peggy:"OK,
we're at the Olympic Stadion and we have to go... to the bank, don't we?"
Toine:"Oh, we have to go to the bank every time?"
Peggy:"Now, but I think that's our eventual aim and along the
way to the bank we'll find more money. We can't go through the fence, so we have
to go that way."
Toine calls for Frédérique on the walki-talki:"This
is Toine and Peggy for Frédérique..."
CC
Toine:"We got dropped somewhere and didn't know where to go. And
we could barely get into contact with Frédérique."
Frédérique tries to listen...:"No... I can't
hear this."
CC
Toine:"So we just started riding where we thought we needed to
go."
Peggy:"I relied on Toine's knowledge of Amsterdam... but I
think I shouldn't have."
They are discussing where to go. Toine explains where
they need to go, but Peggy sees a flag and wants to go there.
CC
Peggy:"He was trying to be the cool guy on his horse and acted
like he had everything under control, but I don't think I had, because he
already gave that walki-talki to me, so he didn't have to use it."
Richard tries to get into contact with Frédérique:"This
is the red team, can you hear me?"
CC
Milouska:"He was constantly pressing that button. 'It's not
working. It doesn't work.' "
Richard:"This is the red team."
Milouska:"Can I try?"
He hands it over to her and she tries.
CC
Milouska:"And when I tried, I DID get into contact with
Frédérique."
Richard:"Frédérique this is Richard, can you
hear me?"
Frédérique:"Loud and clear."
Richard:"We just left the Tropenmuseum, where do we go
now?"
Frédérique:"Euhmm... Tropenmuseum... I'll have to check the
map for that, one second please."
CC
Frédérique:"I can't read maps..."
Richard:"The water is to the right of us, if you
can still hear me."
CC
Milouska:"And then he started describing the place. 'I see a
barn and I can see a river and behind it... there's a tree!' Next, Frédérique
goes 'I only have a map of Amsterdam here.' What importance is his info when you
have a map of Amsterdam?!!"
Frédérique:"And I, with my not being able to read maps,
started describing in a very detailed way, where they had to go."
Mary-Lou:"Frédérique, this is team Green. We're
in front of the Anna Frank House, but that's wrong, isn't it?"
Frédérique:"It is, don't take any money there! When you're
back is to the Anna Frank House, you go left."
Chris:"If we go from the Haarlemer Poort to the Anna Frank
House, we're in the right direction. So we have to go that was."
Mary-Lou:"Look over there's the flag!"
Peggy:"Frédérique, this is Peggy."
Frédérique:"Hi Peggy, which team are you?"
Peggy:"We're the green team!"
Frédérique:"You're the green team?"
Peggy:"No, sorry, we're yellow!"
Frédérique:"I'm sending you to Carré."
CC
Toine:"It became clear too late for us that we were the yellow
team."
Peggy arrives at a landmark:"I see money!"
She rips the plastic envelope, containing the money, off the board. "Frédérique,
Toine and me are at the Rai."
Frédérique:"You're only allowed to take money of your own
colour."
Peggy looks at the envelope, puzzled:"You're kidding!"
Frédérique:"As team yellow, you can only take the yellow
money!"
CC
Peggy:"I tried to hang it back into the staple on that board.
But that didn't really work it turned out, because it had probably been blown
away."
Milouska:"We see a flag! A red flag, we're going
there now!"
Frédérique:"I think all flags are red."
Milouska:"We're at the Rai! There's no money there!"
CC
Milouska:"Very weird!"
Richard:"Frédérique, do you have some time for
me? We're at the Rai, but there's no money here."
Frédérique:"Then you have to go to the Rijksmuseum."
Richard:"Ok, with my back to the Rai, where should I go
now?"
Frédérique:"Euhmm.. then I'd go to..." Milouska:"I
see a red flag there Richard!!" He signals to shut up. Richard:"Milouska
sees a red flag."
Chris and Mary-Lou reach another landmark and get
money from it, while Toine and Peggy get money from Carré. A
while later, Chris and Mary-Lou also find money at the Haarlemmer
Poort. Frédérique tells them where to go next. Richard then
tells her they found money at the Rijksmuseum. She tells him to get it and
quickly go to the bank. Milouska is talking through the conversation. Richard:"Shall
we try not to talk with three people at once? I'd like that."
CC
Richard:"I'm inpatient and I start snapping. She always wants to
talk it over in all details."
Milouska:"Isn't it better to go to the
Frederiksplein?"
Richard:"That's what I'm saying! But I'm saying that to
Frédérique so she doesn't bring me to the Anna Frank House."
Milouska:"But she obviously doesn't know! Let us try to find
it then! The Rijksmuseum, you're in front of it!"
Richard:"Fine, you lead, I'll follow."
Peggy brings the money to the bank and then they go to
Java Island.
In the meantime, Mary-Lou is on a hill, looking in the distance. "I've
lost Chris."
Frédérique:"Did he really leave?"
Mary-Lou:"Yeah, I lost him. I would go left around the
mountain, but I went back, and now I can't see him anywhere."
CC
Mary-Lou:"I was like he's really fucking it all up now. This
makes no sense whatsoever!"
Chris:"I'm innocent."
Mary-Lou:"I'm in the middle of nowhere and Chris
is nowhere to be found! And he's got the money! So I'll just wait here, I don't
know what to do."
CC
Chris:"I was doing it my way for a while."
He gets back and tells her he saw two flags, but there was no
money on it. She didn't see any flags or money either.
Peggy and Chris arrive at the bank and put the money in a small
chest.
Milouska and Richard are trying to get to the bank and are
doubting about Frédérique's directions, because they make no sense.
Chris and Mary-Lou go to the Dam and find Frédérique in
the hole. She's upset:"This sucks! All I hear is horses and cheering of
people and I'm here all alone in a hole!"
Chris:"Yeah, giving us sucky directions!"
Frédérique:"Oh get lost!"
Chris:"No really, you were no help at all except for giving
us the locations."
Frédérique:"Oh that's so rude! I've been sitting in a hole
all the time!"
Peggy finds Frédérique as well:"Hey Frédérique!
This is such a pity for you!"
Frédérique:"It's terrible! I could almost cry!"
Everyone has arrived, except for Richard and Milouska.
Chris thinks they won't make it. They see them riding and yell to come
towards them. Frédérique tells them through the walki-talki:"Guys,
hurry up! Get your asses over here or the challenge will fail!"
Milouska:"I'm sorry, but who didn't get into contact with us
in the beginning?!"
They wonder whether they have money. Frédérique says they haven't,
but then Richard tells them that Milouska is bringing the money to
the bank first. They have 10 minutes left and arrive in time. They win 1.750
euro, bringing the total of the pot to 9.750 euro.
The host tells them they have to put up their own tents to spend the night
there. They are horrified. Peggy:"Nooo, it's so cold
already!"
Liz and Roderick are walking around in sunny Buenos Aires. They aren't cold at all. Liz:"I didn't expect it being so hot today!"
The contestants put up their tents and complain about the cold. Meanwhile, Liz and Roderick enjoy a luxurious dinner.
CC
Richard:"Some people do suspect me, but not that much. I think
they think I'm not the type of person to be The Mole."
Peggy:"I don't know if people suspect me. There's a lot of
talking in the group about he or she could be The Mole. At those moments I keep
my mouth shut. I see people watching me, thinking I might hide something."
Chris:"I think some people might think I'm it."
Day 4 - Fortin Chacabuco
The contestants sleeping in the tent had a terrible night, except
for Chris and Milouska.
Roderick and Liz had a great night and enjoy their breakfast in
Buenos Aires. They talk about the tango assignment. Roderick:"The
challenge is a bit tough to me sometimes. We see couples around us, who are
great at it. But they are already doing that for 5 years, so our challenge is
impossible."
CC
Toine:"Yesterday, Frédérique came to me to get some jokers
from me and Mary-Lou."
Mary-Lou:"Toine would give two jokers to Fred, and then I was
asked if I wanted to give a joker too."
Toine:"We thought about it and wanted Frédérique to stay in
the game. Tactically, I hope one of my potential Moles will get eliminated. If
he stays in, I'll suspect him more."
Frédérique goes to Toine and Mary-Lou and
asks how it's standing for her, joker-wise. Mary-Lou:"I just
heard he wants to give you one less."
CC
Toine:"Maybe the first couple of days, we wont be earning any
jokers and then I will miss out on some jokers."
Frédérique:"Toine started doubting and only gave me one
joker."
Mary-Lou:"Yeah, I do think he screws his friends over. It's a
shitty act."
They are discussing the matter. Mary-Lou:"My position in
the game will get weaker, because I'm quite safe now with 4 jokers..."
CC
Mary-Lou:"I still gave her the joker."
Toine and Mary-Lou each hand one joker to Frédérique.
Mary-Lou:"So you've got two now. Chris has none and Richard has
none as well."
CC
Richard:"I thought I could pay someone 20 euro for a joker, but
no one on earth would do that! I wouldn't even sell a joker for 100 euro myself
either!"
Chris:"I asked Toine if I could get a joker from him, he had
six." flashback The seven contestants travel to manège. Everyone goes inside, but when
all but two contestants are inside Chris closes the door to have some
private time with Toine. Chris:"If you give me three... of
those Mole thingies..."
Toine:"Three jokers?"
"Toine is playing it hard!
Toine and Mary-Lou tell Frédérique that
if she wins some more jokers, she has to give them back one. Toine:"At
this moment, no one in the group knows about it. We're about to tell them now
and we expect them spitting fire!"
They told them. Chris:"This sucks! I tried to make a deal
with you and you gave me nothing!"
Richard:"I even shared a room with you, Toine!"
CC
Toine:"You have to screw over your friends in this game. You
have to choose which person you support and which one you don't. Which
contestant do you want to play out of the game. If that's called screwing your
friends over then so be it."
Suspicions
Mary-Lou:"I'm back to zero. I have no idea! I did suspect
Toine, with the raft thing. He absolutely didn't want to select Richard. He
didn't want to follow the clue to pick the heaviest. But he could be right in
that. I'm starting to think The Mole might be either Liz or Roderick... or
Toine, but I'm not really convinced about it." She uses all of her
three jokers.
Milouska:"Who's The Mole? Richard is. But I'm doubting about it,
because I'm going back to my very first suspect and I think I'll follow that:
Toine. He's The Mole. He's so relaxed with his exemption and all his extra
jokers. It might be obvious, but I do think it has to be him."
Toine:"When the game started, I thought there are two
potential Moles: Roderick and Frédérique. I saw Frédérique being very tense,
for example yesterday with the elimination and the questionnaire. I didn't think
that would fit a Mole. So she's not on my suspect list anymore. Instead, I
suspect Chris now. He reacted so typically today. He's tactically trying to
befriend everyone and help very well with building the raft, but in the end he'd
turn out to be The Mole. So at the moment to me it's Chris and Roderick who are
my suspects." He uses three jokers.
Richard:"I'm onto Chris and Peggy. But Peggy is more intuition.
She did yank money from that pole, but I think I need to be aware of her. She's
not naive, but very slick. If Chris turns out to be The Mole, he's very subtle.
Helpful, helping to put up your tent, calm, flying under the radar. He might
very well be The Mole. But tomorrow we'll meet Roderick and Liz, so we have two
more contestants."
Peggy:"I'm still suspecting Chris. I think he knows he's
being suspected by me or more people and that's why he's keeping a low profile.
He tries to look less suspicious, but I still think he is The Mole."
She uses all of her two jokers.
Chris:"I haven't got a clue. I don't know if people suspect me,
nor do I know who is The Mole. I'm getting paranoid ad am suspecting everybody.
I'm suspecting Richard, Peggy, Frédérique..."
Frédérique:"I suspected Chris for a long time, but I'm
afraid I'm not suspecting him anymore. I don't know, I think... it's so
difficult to suspect someone from the other group, but I can't help it. My gut
feeling says it's Liz." She uses both of her jokers.
Suspicious in this episode
Toine writes a
mysterious message, telling Milouska to go outside.
Richard tries to look suspicious by doing nothing in the raft building.
Toine and Frédérique don't want to follow the advice of choosing
the heaviest person.
Frédérique has difficulties getting into contact with the other
contestants and tells information too late.
Peggy confuses yellow with green and takes money from a pole that wasn't
intended for her team.
Chris suddenly disappears.
Richard describes the landscape to Frédérique, which is of no
help. He also has difficulties getting into contact with her.
Milouska is talking through the conversation of Richard and Frédérique.
Toine doesn't want to give jokers to Chris but does give one to Frédérique.
Elimination

Liz and Roderick are in Buenos Aires and don't have to do a
questionnaire until episode 3. So they're
still in the game. But who will be eliminated?
Episode 3 (coming soon)
