Bali
Host:"Three people are left. Real friends. Or are they?
What did they know about each other? One of them became the winner, one would
lose and one... was The Mole."
Day 15 - Jimbaran
They're driving to the next location and Lottie asks how
much money is in the group pot. Marc-Marie laughs and the girls ask him
why. Marc-Marie:"Who has the pot?" Both girls tell him
he has it. Marc-Marie:"Oh no, Angela (the host) has it,
that's right, because I had in my pocket and she said that wasn't safe and
then..." Yvon:"You should never do that!" Marc-Marie:"It's
better to gave it to her than..." Yvon:"No you'd better
keep it to yourself! Or give it to me!" Marc-Marie:"It's
better to absolutely not give it too you!"
Tanah Lot
They arrive at a golf resort for the next challenge, but first
they get taught how to golf.
CC
Lottie:"We got taught by a guy from Bali and he told me exactly
where I should place my left thumb and my right pink and my knees and ... And
that's not got for me, because I try to remember all those details and then when
I have to do it, I only think about my hands and how my posture should be and it
doesn't work. And I also felt a bit like a child. When I was young and something
didn't work I yelled it was stupid, threw it on the ground and didn't do it
anymore. And that feeling came back!"
She misses several balls while practicing. Lottie:"This
is stupid! Golf is stupid!"
CC
Yvon:"During practise it went terrific! I never played golf
before, but it went great! I hit one ball after the other very hard and very
high."
She hits the ball and cheers, because it goes far away and she
can't even see the ball anymore and cheers again!
CC
Lottie:"Especially when you hear cheering behind you and you see
this ball flying away again... that's not making it any better. I constantly
missed the ball, or sometimes I did slightly hit it and it fell half a meter in
front of me."
After practising, it's time for the challenge. They each have to
play one hole and try to get the ball in it in less than 15 hits. If they need
16 or more hits (they can try until they did 20 hits) they will get a multiple
choice question. The worse they play, the more answers of that multiple choice
question they have to guess from. If they answer correctly, they're still good.
If all three make it, they win $ 3,000.
Marc-Marie goes first. His first hit misses the ball, which also counts
as a hit. His second hit is much better though. The third time, the ball falls
only one meter further. Marc-Marie:"Nah it's just
practising!"
The fourth hit goes much further! But then he misses again.
CC
Marc-Marie:"I started and the first hits went very well."
He's in the rough, but the next hit brings him in the green,
causing him to hit the ball much further in the following hit. But then he
misses again. Yvon is laughing and talks while he's trying to hit the
ball, which puts him out of his concentration and the ball falls two meters
further. He then misses again, making the girls laugh.
CC
Marc-Marie:"When I missed the ball, hit next to it, it also
counted as a hit. I lost a lot of hits in that and before I knew I had 20 hits
and was in a sand bank."
He has to answer a mulitple choice question: Who is the most
important member of a family in Bali?
Grandfather
Grandmother
Mother
Oldest son
Oldest daughter
He goes for the grandmother, because the dad wasn't named, so it
wouldn't be the grandfather either and that's why he thought it was grandmother.
Which is correct! They're amazed he had it right!
Lottie is next. She misses the first hit
CC
Marc-Marie:"Until then, Lottie was the worst golf player."
Lottie:"I was worthless at it. I just couldn't do it!"
Marc-Marie explains her how to hold her shoulders and
hips, but then Yvon tells her not to think about it and just hit the
ball. That seems to work fine!
CC
Lottie:"When Yvon gave me the perfect advice 'Don't think, just
hit!' it went great!"
After a while, she is about 3 meters from the hole and still has
3 hits left to get the ball in! She hits the ball softly, which moves it closer
to the hole. She hits it again, but the ball rolls over the hole! But then her
next hit is in and she's succeeded! If Yvon succeeds too, they win the
money!
CC
Yvon:"And there I went... I missed the ball like 26 times! Well
not 26 times, but it was several times that I missed it."
Marc-Marie:"She had a difficult big hold in the middle, but
found a kind of path on the side and thought she could make it."
She misses the ball again and next only gets it one meter
further. But then she gets a good hit, moving it past the hole, but closer. But
the hole is on a bit of a hill, so when she hits again, the ball rolls past the
hole. She then misses the hole again and then it's finally in. Marc-Marie
and Lottie tell her she did well. Marc-Marie is holding the flag:"My
hands are full, but I would have applauded otherwise!" Yvon
takes over the flag so he can applaud her.
She didn't do well enough though, because she took 20 hits. She has to answer a
5 answer multiple question now.
What's the name of every child that is born third in a family in Bali?
Ayu
Wayan
Ketut
Nyoman
Made
CC
Yvon:"I had no clue and had to guess. It could have been any one
of them. I didn't know either of the words and it was a big guess."
She goes for Ayu, but that's wrong. The correct answer is
Nyoman. But she gets a second chance! She gets 30 minutes to try and find
someone who's called Nyoman and bring him back.
CC
Lottie:"I thought it had to be possible to find a third born
child in a family!"
Yvon runs down a path and finds a group of Bali people
whom she asks if anyone is called Nyoman. But they all shake their heads. She
continues her search and arrives at a market where she asks several other
people, but they're not called Nyoman either.
CC
Yvon:"There were a lot of tourists who weren't from Indonesia
who couldn't be a Nyoman."
She finds a boy called Made, but that's not what she needs. She
asks several other people and finds several Made's, Ketuts and Wayans.
CC
Yvon:"I found 100 first born childs, second born childs, but for
some dark reason there was no Nyoman."
The host tells Lottie and Marc-Marie that time is
up. They don't win the money and the pot stands at € 19,000. They can't
believe Yvon couldn't find a Nyoman in half an hour. Marc-Marie:"We
can't control whether she really did it." Lottie:"No
we'll see that when we're home I guess. See her swimming in the sea or
something."
Yvon arrives, sweaty and out of breath. Marc-Marie:"She
seems to be very tired." She tells them she found several Ketuts, Mades
and Wayans, but no Nyoman. Yvon:"I did my best." Lottie:"You
weren't jumping around just to look tired afterwards?" Yvon:"No..."
CC
Lottie:"She looked very sweaty, but I really doubted her
story."
Marc-Marie:"She looked so exhausted that she really has been
searching."
Lottie:"I really think she should have been able to find a
Nyoman, but if she's The Mole, shee has the perfect opportunity to saotage this.
I don't trust it."
Marc-Marie:"I do think she really tried her best, but failed.
So that's just too bad."
Later that night, they talk about the money they won. Yvon
finds that they have very little money. Lottie never thought about it
because it didn't seem existential. Marc-Marie thinks he's got a big
chance of winning. Marc-Marie:"I think we're the silliest Mole
ever, as concerned about challenges and earning money, both nationally as
internationally!"
Lottie:"Why do you think that happened?"
Yvon:"Because we had a perfect Mole!"
Marc-Marie:"And I also think we're all solo players. We all
have a strategy and we didn't have many people who didn't care about the game.
Everyone cared about it!"
Day 16 - Balangan Beach
Tonight, The Mole will be revealed. But first they will have to
do the final questionnaire consisting of 40 questions about The Mole. The
contestants go through their notes, secluded on a beach and think about the
game.

CC
Yvon:"I almost couldn't think of anything else the past weeks.
Each time it seems like you collect pieces of information and make tunnels in
your brain which lead to the solution. It's a riddle that takes 3 weeks. It's
also a psychological game. Who do you trust? Who don't you trust? Who do you
start an alliance with and with whom not? We did so many fun stuff!
I thought the Art challenge was fun to do! Just thinking about a concept was
great about the challenge. It partially succeeded. It's not a challenge I'll
forget quickly.
And the Lasergame was absolutely great! To win the exemption at such a crucial
point in the game, was super!
At the very first elimination, I was the last person standing and I thought I
had to go home! (but no one went, the percentage twist
was introduced in episode 1 instead)
I answered that my stamina would range 2 on a scale of 10, but if I
look at others, I think that 2 is still ok.
We're in the final and didn't have to do terrible things or cry a lot or
anything. That's quite an achieement!
After her reflections about the game, she is aske three
questions by the host.
You notice that one of your parents has an affaire with someone else. Will
you make sure the other parent gets to know it?
Yvon nodds:"The same day! Without a doubt! I'll talk to that
parent about it and make him tell the other one himself."
Would you be able to kill an innocent person if you were
absolutely sure that that would stop all hunger in the world?
Yvon:"One person? Oh my... If all hunger would be gone? I
would do it. That's millions of people."
Suppose you have to give up your place in the final round in
favour of one of the eliminated contestants. Who would you choose?
Yvon:"Hmmm.... Gijs. Because I think I liked him the most out
of the eliminated people. I thought he was surprisingly fun! I thought he was
just a slick radio dj, but he appeared to be an honest, open, nice guy. I'd
grant the final place to him the most."

CC
Marc-Marie:"If I think back when I felt very 'Who is The Mole?'
it must be when I took my first step into the helicopter. That's when I really
thought, this is the game! The rest of that challenge wasn't much fun, looking
for keys at the beach.
The steam train was fun to do though! Afterwards they thought I was hindering
the challenge, but that's rubbish!
I've been playing well on full force and highest level.
The stunt plane was fantastic to experience. I'm afraid I will look very
hysterical on tv though!
I also found myself quite fun in the suitcase challenge afterwards.
It wouldn't be my own choice to go along on a trip with 9 other people, but now
it turned out that of the people who were in it, I seemed to be quite a
group-person.
The three of us are left now and we did all challenges and everything and I have
lost myself in the game! And that's the most fun thing that could happen. I
think that's why I did it!
He too gets asked questions:
Would you rather die at age 55 having your lover with you or at age 75, but
all alone?
Marc-Marie:"That's not difficult, the first choice. If I know
he would die tomorrow, then I'd like to die today. It might sound a bit... but I
can't imagine I could live... without him."
You're offered a fantastic deal which makes you very rich,
but you would never be able to do your work anymore. Do you take the deal?
Marc-Marie:"If I get very rich I think I could let my work
go. I think I can live without it."
Suppose you have to give up your place in the final round in
favour of one of the eliminated contestants. Who would you choose?
Marc-Marie:"That's very difficult... I think I'd choose
Sander, because he was so into the game! Sander was the game! He saw hints where
there were none and stuff! And that's great! I think you have to go back to a
certain childish game mode to appreciate the game and he was able to do that,
which was good of him."

CC
Lottie:"I enjoyed several challenges! For example the singing
with the kids, Waltzing Mathilda. When we entered the classroom and saw the kids
singing, I got so happy! It was a fun challenge! The second part in the stadion
was fun too. I won an exemption there, so that day was wonderful.
I've acknowledged myself in several points, for example that I find a group of
people tiring and it costs me a lot of energy. That was difficult and I don't
think next time I'm in a group I'll think 'Oh we'll do fine!'
The most difficult elimination to me was the last elimination before the finale.
It was so exciting. Angela (the host) went for Isabelle first and the first one
never gets eliminated, so it was very exciting! I kept on thinking 'Red, red,
red!' when she typed in Isabelle's name. Not very nice. But then the screen
turned red and I was so relieved! I had never felt such relieve before!
I've had moments when I was fed up with it. With the suitcase challenge when
everyone started talking through each other and then afterwards we had a
questionnaire and I didn't know who to choose. It was difficult to just at
random answer the questions. I had no clue.
I've gotten so close with Marc-Marie and Yvon, but it didn't sink in yet. I
think we'll realize it when we get back. I know it's something special.
Her questions:
Would you commit perjury for your best friend if he got charged with a
serious delinquency?
Lottie:"Hmmm... I have to lie then?Yes I would do... oh
no...! Yes I would do it..."
You wake up and you have to choose between your singing and
you acting talent. What do you choose?
Lottie:"Oh nooo! No! Ugh... forever? Then I keep my singing
and get rid of my acting, because I think the singing fits better to me and
makes me more happy than acting."
Suppose you have to give up your place in the final round in
favour of one of the eliminated contestants. Who would you choose?
Lottie:"Sander. I think he deserves most after me."
The final challenge... all three contestants get together with
the host and they have to guess what the other contestant answered. They start
with Yvon's question. If the first three dilemma's are answered
correctly, they win € 1,000 and from then on, every correctly answered dilemma
is worth € 1,000. So they can win a total of € 7,000.
Lottie and Marc-Marie have to guess what Yvon answered.
Yvon notices that one of her parents has an affaire with someone else. Will
she make sure the other parent gets to know it?
They both think she would tell the other parent. the host asks them how she
would do it. Marc-Marie:"I think she would talk to the one that's
having the affaire and make him tell the other one. That's what I think."
He's 100 % correct!
Would Yvon be able to kill an innocent person if she was
absolutely sure that that would stop all hunger in the world?
They find it very difficult, but think she would do it. Marc-Marie:"She
would. With her eyes closed and saying sorry, sorry, sorry, like I killed
Isabelle."
Lottie agrees. If they have the next one correct, they have €
1,000.
Suppose Yvon has to give up her place in the final round in
favour of one of the eliminated contestants. Who would she choose?
They go through it. Marc-Marie names the eliminated contestants and Lottie
says yes or no. Yvonne? No. Victoria? No. Gijs? Maybe. Jim? No. Isabelle? No.
They doubt between Sander and Gijs. Both think she chose Sander.
Yvon:"Why?"
Silence...
Marc-Marie:"Don't tell me it's wrong."
Yvon:"It is!"
Lottie:"Gijs?"
Yvon:"Yeah!"
Marc-Marie:"Why Gijs?!"
Yvon:"Why Sander?!"
Marc-Marie:"Bring Gijs back for the third time or
something?"
They're wrong. Yvon finds the other two weird. Time to switch. Lottie
and Yvon have to guess what Marc-Marie answered.
Would Marc-Marie rather die at age 55 having his lover with
him or at age 75, but
all alone?
Both immediately say he'd die with his lover alongside with him. That's
correct! Every dilemma earns them € 1,000 from now on, so they now have €
20,000 in the pot!
Marc-Marie is offered a fantastic deal which makes
him very rich,
but he would never be able to do his work anymore. Does he take the deal?
Yvon immediately says he wouldn't do that. Lottie doubts. Yvon:"He
can't perform anymore!" Lottie:"But that's not so
important to him." Yvon:"Performing is most
important!" Lottie:"He once said that if he had enough
money to never have to work anymore, he would stop working, because he's very
lazy!"
Yvon:"But that's someone else than never performing
again!" Lottie:"Oh yeah, then he never can do anything
fun anymore, you're right."
But their answer is wrong.
Marc-Marie:"Lottie knows me!!"
Yvon:"Would you do that?!!!"
Marc-Marie:"Who wouldn't? If you have tons of money and
never have to work anymore?!"
Lottie:"I thought you two knew each other so well?!"
Yvon:"Yeah but I don't believe him! I think he didn't think
about it himself well enough before answering!"
Suppose Marc-Marie has to give up his place in the final round in
favour of one of the eliminated contestants. Who would he choose?
Yvon:"Well Sander apparently..." Lottie
agrees. They're right. € 21,000 in the pot.
Marc-Marie:"He played the game, Yvon!"
Yvon:"But it was about who you would grant it!"
Marc-Marie:"Yeah but granting it to someone, it's about the
game, I mean... I grant it to my aunt too."
Yvon:"Yeah but I granted it to Gijs more."
Marc-Marie:"Ok, never mind."
Marc-Marie and Yvon now have to guess Lottie's
answers.
Would Lottie commit perjury for her best friend if she got charged with a
serious delinquency?
They both think she wouldn't. Marc-Marie:"If her friend did
something wrong, she would think he'd have to deal with the consequences
himself."
Lottie:"I answered I would try to do that." (laughs)
Marc-Marie:"No, are you serious? For rape or something?!" Yvon:"You
would lie in court for that?!!"
Lottie:"Yeah but she rephrased the question and said 'What's
more important to you? Friendship or honesty in court?'! But it was very
difficult to choose from."
Lottie wakes up and has to choose between her singing and
her acting talent. What does she choose?
Yvon thinks she would keep acting, because the chance of earning
money with singing is smaller. Marc-Marie persuades her though, which is
good and they win € 1,000, so they now have € 22,000 in the pot.
And the last question is answered correctly too, they think she would let Sander come back. So the amount of money the winner will get is € 23,000.
Final Suspicions
Marc-Marie:"It's Yvon. I'm not even doubting anymore! If you're
still doubting at thisstage I think you deserve to be dragged behind a horse to
the airport. If you're so far into the game and still doubt. That's impossible. If
you're in the final round, that means you've gotten closer to the correct
answer. So I'm not doubting. Not a moment. I might just win and that wouldn't
even be undeserved!"
Yvon:"Very exciting! I've written everything down. My journal
is filled with details and I'm good at learning rows of facts by heart. I think
winning might differ with one or two questions, so everything is important and I
have to be quick. I'm going for Lottie 100 %. My journal is filled with
everything about her. What did she wear, what did she eat, what's her favourite
holiday destination. Everything! I'm sure she's it. I could win
this!"
Lottie:"I thought for a very long time Yvon couldn't be it.
It might sound silly but she had become a bit of a friend and I disregarded her.
My feeling says she's The Mole and that would mean I'm up against Marc-Marie and
he's so well at this. I think all three of us are strong contenders. It's going
to be exciting!"
Suspicious in this episode
Marc-Marie and Yvon
take more than 15 hits on the golf course and have to answer a multiple choice
question.
Yvon doesn't answer her multiple choice question correctly and has to
find someone called Nyoman. But she doesn't succeed.
Yvon would like Gijs to take her place in the final, which the others
find weird.
Yvon is wrong several times when guessing what the others answered.
Lottie says hse would lie in court!
Revealing of the winner, the mole and the
loser...
The contestants walk in the garden of a temple towards the host.
Who will win the € 23,000 and who is The Mole?
