Kangaroo Island - Australia
Host:"The contestants were scared. After a 36 hour
journey, they thought for a moment that one of them had to go home already. And
then Kangaroo Island came along. Winter... cold... wet... especially at
night."
Day 2 - Kangaroo Island
The first challenge is about to begin and the contestants are
exchanging some tactical hints.
Yvonne:"So the Mole sabotages... but if the Mole is in another
group than you, then..."
Sander:"Yes you don't whether the Mole has sabotaged when
your Mole is in another group."
Lottie:"I don't believe this. That now you're going to ask
how this game works?!"
Next they have a discussion about which group will go first, second and
third.
Confession Cam
Lottie:"Everyone's just yelling through each other and nobody
listens and I didn't like that, so I stepped back."
A helicopter arrives to pick up the first team to fly to the
West of Kangaroo Island:

Victoria, Isabelle and Sander are the first team. They
arrive at a Hanson Bay where they have to put on long boots, to cross a small
stream of water to get to a sandbank where the host is waiting. The host points
them at 10 barrels, which contain everything to spend a comfortable night. The
barrels are locked and they need to find the keys. The beach they're standing on
is divided in 70 squares. In 10 of those squares, a key is burried. In other
squares, there's a number that tells them how money keys are bordering that
square. So if there's a 2, it means that in two of the 8 surrounding squares
there's a key. If a square is empty, it means none of the surrounding squares
have a key. So it's something like the game minesweeper. They can dig 10 times,
but every key they find, they get an extra turn.
They have one shovel and a metal detector to locate the exact location of a key.
They start digging in a corner.
CC
Isabelle:"I'm not good at logic things. I saw all those squares
and knew there would be some kind of system in it, but when I heard it I knew it
was not my cup of tea."
The first square they've opened is empty. Victoria
suggests to dig in another corner.
Meanwhile, the others are still waiting to be picked up by the helicopter. Yvon,
Marc-Marie and Gijs are discussing the game. Gijs says he
finds Yvon and Marc-Marie suspicious. Yvon doesn't want to
say anything, but Gijs tries to convince both of them to form an
alliance.
CC
Gijs:"No alliances have been made so far (laughs) not
yet!"
Victoria is now using the metal detector. It suddenly starts beeping, so they begin to dig.
Gijs and Yvon are still talking. He's trying to
get information out of her. Yvon:"I watched your video and
Roeland's video." (last episode)
Gijs:"So you voted one of those two to be The Mole? ... So you
chose... Roeland." Yvon:"... no." Gijs:"You
chose me?" Yvon:"I'm not telling you!"
The other group is still digging and trying to find the key for which the metal detector beeped. They can't find anything, so they try again. It turns out it beeped because Sander was holding the metal shovel nearby!

Yvon, Marc-Marie and Gijs are the second team and they get
in the helicopter.
CC
Gijs:"It's very difficult, because everyone does something
suspicious. And some people try to be very suspicious and I'm going to stick to
my strategy to trust those who you suspect! Because I have a feeling they're
doign the same with me! (laughs)"
Marc-Marie:"I think people really think I don't know what I'm
doing sometimes."
Yvon:"I think you can't find the Mole because of things that
happen in the game."
When the second team arrives, the first team has to quit
digging. They have to explain the challenge to the second team. Isabelle
takes the large boots and runs to the other side, while Victoria repeats
the aim of the challenge again.
Isabelle arrives at the hill and is yelling at the second team to hurry
up and start running.
CC
Yvon:"The challenge today was complete chaos. A woman with bare
feet is screaming hysterically at us..."
Victoria and Sander are still digging and have
found a second key.
Yvon, Marc-Marie and Gijs run downhill with Isabelle
to get to the beach as fast as possible. Meanwhile, Victoria and Sander
find a plastic frisbee with the number 1 on it. (meaning that 1 of the bordering
squares has a key in it.
CC
Gijs:"Isabelle was yelling like crazy that we had to hurry and
run and be fast... and I didn't see this big rock at the beach..."
Gijs has tripped on fallen on a rock. He's hurt, but Isabelle
encourages him to keep on running, or else it will hurt even more.
CC
Gijs:"It looks like a kind of Mole action, but I have honestly
admit I didn't plan to do this or anything! At first I thought my ankle was
hurting, but later it turned out my knee was woudned. It wasn't that
great."
Marc-Marie:"I was there with him when Gijs fell. It looked a
lot like it was all staged, but that it got out of control and was really
hurt."
Sander explains the challenge to the second team, but Victoria
comes in between from time to time. Sander:"We've got 2 keys up
til now." Victoria:"We've got 3!"
Gijs takes a look at his wound. It's quite a cut and it has swollen
already.
CC
Victoria:"I did see the wound, but I know how they make them.
That small cut I've seen? I just think it's childish, very childish!"
Because Gijs is hurt, Sander stands in for him and
helps Yvon and Marc-Marie.
CC
Marc-Marie:"Sander, he.... when we had dug up a square and
turned around and came back it was already filled again! So I don't trust Sander
one bit!"
They find a frisbee with a 1 on it. Marc-Marie and Yvon
seem to have a laugh with the challenge. Isabelle:"What a bunch
of morons all together! How are you supposed to find the Mole in there?!"
The next team arrives and Marc-Marie takes the boots to them.
CC
Marc-Marie:"No one trusts anyone and they're all acting like
they are The Mole!"
Team 3 is:

Lottie, Roeland, Yvonne and Jim
Yvon explains them the aim of the challenge.
CC
Jim:"When Yvon was explaining the challenge, I didn't feel like
she was doing that in a Mole kind of way. I think she did it very
honestly."
Gijs also explains the challenge a bit to Roeland.
"You can also find a frisbee, they're made of iron."
CC
Victoria:"When it turned out that his group didn't pay attention
to our explanation of the game, so I went to explain it to Gijs again. And then
when he told it to the next team only 3 minutes after I had explained it, he has
it wrong. An explanation you can't remember for 2 minutes is very suspicious to
me."
Victoria goes to Sander and Isabelle:"He's
saying there are frisbees, made of iron, which you can find with the metal
detector. What do you think about that?"
The third team finds a key, while Sander asks Gijs why he let Yvon
explain the challenge to team 3. Gijs:"Because Yvon said she
would explain it." Sander:"Yeah, but Yvon doesn't quite
understand it and I foudn it suspicious that you let Yvon explain it to the
third team."
Gijs:"Oh so you're going to suspect me now too?"
Sander:"Yeah."
Gijs:"Ok, good luck with that."
The third team finds another 2 keys. Time's up and they have found 9 keys.
Each key is worth € 1,000, but they can also use them to open some of the
barrels, however they don't know what's in which barrel and every barrel has its
price.
CC
Marc-Marie:"Then we had to open those barrels and hell broke
loose."
Jim:"I suggest to open the most expensive and the
cheapest, so we can find out the psychology of the person who packed the
barrels."
Gijs:"This one's very heavy, but only costs € 250."
Lottie to Jim:"They're not listening to you."
Jim:"No, no one's listening to me. Hello?!"
Marc-Marie:"I think we should open one and that's the most
expensive. Let's just open that one! The most expensive and the cheapest, that's
very clever, Jim! We're opening the most expensive one anyway, that one
is..." Lottie:"€ 3,000!" Yvon already
walks towards the expensive barrel with a key.
Gijs:"You guys, if we want to do that strategy, we better open up
the cheapest one first!"
CC
Yvonne:"They were all yelling and screaming and no one was
making any decisions so I thought 'This is perfect chaotic moment to open a
barrel!' but I don't think they really liked that."
Yvonne opens a barrel, but Victoria starts
protesting:"She's deciding on her own to open barrel number 7, while
number 5 also only costs € 150!!!!"
Gijs:"OK, but don't scream like that!" Victoria:"OK,
I just want to say that I don't think she should decide on her own which barrel
to open!"
Gijs:"I think we should first find out which one is the
cheapest!"
CC
Roeland:"Around me I saw a circus of madness. Everyone went
crazy!"
Marc-Marie:"If we're going to open the cheapes
and the most expensive, we're opening the € 3,000 one no matter what..."
Isabelle:"But honey, there are two barrels which are the
cheapest."
Marc-Marie:"Hold on a moment, Isabelle! So if we're opening
the expensive one anyway, le'ts just do that, then at least we've done
something, so let's open it right now!"
Gijs:"But if you're right with that, why not open the
cheapest ones first? Because if it does turn out the expensive one has something
silly in it, we've lost that € 3,000 already, which would be a pity!"
CC
Gijs (rubs his face):"Terrible! But that's just what happens.
Ten adult people who are nice and all, but then we're going to fight over wheter
we need a tent or a sleeping bag or not. You just go crazy of it all!"
Gijs is yelling to try to make himself heard, because
everyone else is talkign and screaming too. He suggest to open the cheapest ones
first; numbers 5 and 7.
CC
Gijs:"Meanwhile I think 'Well, I'm doing the same, I'm playing
this game hard too and want to win this too.' "
They open a barrel and get food and beer (Victoria beer). They
have € 8,750 left, because that barrel cost €150.
CC
Lottie:"I was willing to spend a lot of money to have a
comfortable night, because the past nights we haven't slept much, so I think
it's important for us to have a good night's sleep."
They've opened number 5 and Jim is opening number 7. Victoria
starts screaming again that he decides on his own to open that barrel, but Gijs
comes between:"We just all agreed on that! To open numbers 5 and
7!"
The barrel contains sleeping bags. € 8,500 left.
CC
Sander:"Of course The Mole wants us to sleep dry. If an
expensive barrel is opened, The Mole will of course agree, so that we lose
money. I kept an eye on all the barrels. I quickly wrote down in my notebook,
who wanted to lose money to open barrels or who wanted to leave the money in the
pot and didn't want those items in the barrels."
They open up the expensive one, which contains tents. It cost
them € 3,000 and now they have € 5,500 left. Another one is opened... €
5,000 left. And another one: € 4,000 left. Another one which contains more
tents (€ 3,500 left) and hey... another € 1,000 barrel, leaving them with
€ 2,500. Of course, they open another barrel, which turns out to contain
toilet paper. They have € 1,750 left and call still open up one barrel of €
750. Roeland votes to open it. Gijs doesn't want to.
CC
Victoria:"They wanted to spend the last money on mats! If you've
got tents, sleeping bags, fire and everything, why on earth do you need
mats?!"
Sander suggests everyone to stop opening barrels, "Because
there's a Mole who keeps on encouraging others to open up barrels and lose
money!"
They stop and get the € 1,750 they have left. They now have € 2,750 in the group pot.
They have to put up their tents at the beach. Marc-Marie has some
troubles with that.
The host hands them a guitar and a bottle of whiskey, but also says she want to
have a number below 10 the next morning. And that number has to do with minutes.
CC
Jim:"I kept an eye on Yvon Jaspers, because she has the money
and then suddenly was 10 meters away from the group, which looks very
suspicious, but no one notices it, because people are more occupied with
themselves, especially now that we're doing this game with so-called famous
Dutch people, who have an ego from here all the way back to Holland. They're too
involved with their own reasons why they're here and they don't pay attention to
what's happening around them."
Sander:"I've got two pages in my diary of each contestant. I
don't have that much yet. I write down what I think about others, whether they
talk much, if they join in in a discussion...."
Yvon:"I feel like a detective. I'm repeating lists in my head
and can't stop doing that! Always 'Who was sitting where? What was the order we
were sitting in the plane?' It's very tiring and the more tired I get the more
difficult it gets to remember everything."
Yvonne walks over to Yvon who's looking in her
journal. Yvonne wants to take a peek, but Yvon quickly closes her
journal and says Yvonne's not allowed to watch! Yvonne walks on
and sarcastically says:"I think the atmosphere is great out here!"
A while later it's past midnight and most of the contestants are asleep. But
a small group is still on the beach around a lamp, discussing import things:

Sander
Victoria
Isabelle
Roeland
Sander:"I've seen The Mole at work during the
discussion and chaos when we were deciding on which barrels we would open. You
could get a lot out of that."
Roeland:"I really don't have a clue and haven't seen The Mole
at work."
Sander:"I haven't seen a Mole sabotage, I've just watched my
suspects' behaviour during that chaos."
Isabelle:"I voted Marc-Marie last time."
Roeland:"I'm absolutely not going to say who I've voted
for!"
Victoria:"But Marc-Marie is very difficult, because he is
like he usually is and that's a different character to get a grip on."
Roeland:"That's why I think its the two Yvon's, because they
always try to make it impossible to make contact."
Isabelle:"Information is knowledge. That's my strategy.
Either way."
Day 3- Hanson Bay
Some slept great and some didn't.. Marc-Marie thought it
would've been the worst night ever, but it turned out to be ok for him.
CC
Roeland:"It was wet and cold and I didn't feel well already, so
I really needed a good night's sleep. I'm glad that worked out for me."
Yvon:"I've been worrying about who The Mole is all night
long! I hardly slept at all. It would be terrible to be the first eliminated
after you've been thinking about who the Mole is all night long!"
They travel to the next location.
CC
Isabelle:"I think everyone didn't take the level of excitement
in account. I think a lot of them didn't know what effect it would have on them.
It's become a bit more grim."
Gijs:"Sander is someone I can share things with. We both work
at the radio, so it's nice to talk to each other on the same level. We talk a
lot and I only make alliances with people I find suspicious."
Kelly Hill Caves
They arrive with their bags, where the host awaits them. Gijs
stumbles behind with his hurt knee. The host asks them for the number below 10.
CC
Yvonne:"I thought the number would be something positive."
Victoria:"Others thought that maybe we would have to go under
water for 8 minutes."
Yvonne:"Take a 10 minute shower, I thought."
Victoria:"Or walk on hot coals for 8 minutes, so we wanted to
go for a low number, zero to 5."
Yvonne:"I wanted to go for 10 minutes. But the group decided
to even it up."
The number they've chosen is six. And that means they get six
minutes to repack their luggage in 2 backpacks.
When time is up, Yvon quickly packs a cuddly animal. The hsot and the
luggage stay behind, while the contestants go down a long stairs into
underground caves. All the way down, they watch a video on which the host
explains the challenge.
"This is the beginning of an underground network of caves. Each one of
you who goes through it, wins € 1,000 for the group pot. For every person that
doesn't go, you will lose € 500 and that's not the only consequence. It takes
about an hour to crawl through this. It's pitchblack and at some places you only
have 40 centimeters. You will go with two people. Good luck."
They figure out who goes with who. Gijs has stumbled down
the stairs with his hurt knee and says he won't be able to crawl through the
caves with that knee.
CC
Gijs:"It was a pity I couldn't go, because I would have loved
doing it."
Sander says he's terrified of doing something like this,
but he wants to go if someone who is very sure and not afraid, goes along. Roeland
offers to go together with Sander. Isabelle has the same problem.
She's not really afraid, but wants someone brave to go with her.
CC
Isabelle:"Will I do this, yes or no... I had to think about
that. I'll won't be getting much air. But I wanted to, because it's unique and
fun and we can win a lot of money and if I don't do it they might think I did
that on purpose, or..."
Victoria:"When I saw Gijs didn't go along. I was so irritated
about that today that I started thinking maybe it was just ketchup on his knee
yesterday!"
Sander:"A Mole is not so obvious. A Mole won't let himself
get hurt so he doesn't have to do challenges, that's way too obvious."
Gijs:"Such silly accidents can happen."
Because Gijs can't crawl, Jim, Isabelle and
Victoria go first with three people. (They had to go with two, but since Gijs
can't go, they are allowed to go with three, so no one has to go through it
alone). They crawl through the caves with a light on their helmet.
CC
Jim:"It was unbelievably beautiful there and then I started to
get a bit nervous, because I do have a bit of claustrophobia. I thought the only
thing I can do now is just do it... keep on breathing, look ahead and just
go."
They've reached the 40 centimeter section, where they have to go
down on their tummies and crawl ahead like that.
CC
Isabelle:"Jim... I'm not sure whether he's really
claustrophobic."
Roeland:"He's someone who plays the game well. He could be
the Mole, but he observes well and lies a lot."
Isabelle:"Is he deceiving us all and will I get into troubles
myself in that cave? So that was a bit scary, but I just thought he really was
claustrophobic and that he made it."
Marc-Marie and Yvonne start the crawl now, while
the other three have reached the end.
CC
Marc-Marie:"If you're claustrophobic it must have been very
claustropboic, but I don't have that, so it was quite nice to crawl through
that. Actually, there's a very sportive guy inside of me and he's coming out
now!"
Lottie and Yvon go together.
CC
Lottie:"Yvon and me went together. I went first and it was
exciting and when you see this hole going down and lights indicating we have to
go down there I thought 'Huh, that's impossible!' but well, it was possible!
Fun!"
Jim gets out of the cave and walks towards the host, who
tells him he can take two backpacks of other contestants along with him to go
back to the starting place.
CC
Jim:"I took the bags of Yvon, because I've been suspecting her
from the start. And from Roeland, because I'm also thinking he could be The
Mole. I thought that the backpacks I would take, that I would have some power
over those, or I could throw them down a gorge and say I lost them or
something."
The two girls arrived at a very narrow part and crawl through.
Victoria can also take two backpacks. She takes Sander's and Jim's.
She walks on and arrives at the place where Jim's already waiting. They
talk about the backpacks. Victoria:"Two backpacks will be left
behind either way." Jim:"The ones Gijs was supposed to
bring along?" Victoria:"That's what I think."
Isabelle now also arrives at the place the host is waiting with the
bags. She chooses backpacks of people she hasn't had much contact with yet: Yvon
and Lottie.
Yvon and Lottie some to be lost in the caves...
they don't know where they came from or where they have to go to.
Marc-Marie has arrived and can also choose two bags.
CC
Marc-Marie:"I thought we would have to use those bags for the
rest of the journey."
He takes one bag of Roeland.
CC
Marc-Marie:"And then I wanted to take a bag from Sander, but
that one was too empty, so I didn't take that."
He says he would like to take one of his own bags, but the host
reminds him that's forbidden.
Victoria is still discussing the bags-thing:"Because Yvon has two
bags saved already, the chance of one person having no bags at all gets
bigger."
CC
Marc-Marie:"I hadn't even thought about it that two people
wouldn't be getting their ackpacks and stuff, you know. It wasn't until I
arrived and they told me that I went 'Oh yeah... of course!' "
He chooses Gijs's bag and walks off complaining to the
camera:"My whole system is in my bags and if someone gets that... I'm in
big trouble!"
Yvonne also chooses one of Gijs and take one of Lottie.
Marc-Marie arrives with the rest and tells them which bags he has. Victoria:"Well
that's just great, now Roeland has his two bags, Yvon has her two bags and the
rest doesn't." and then adds:"The Mole knows which bags he has
to take along of course!"
CC
Lottie:"I think The Mole tried to go along with that person who
was most scared."
Sander:"I'm claustrophobic, I'm scared in small spaces.
Roeland offered to go along with me. He knows I'm scared and goes along with me
and when I get scared he would encourage me to quit. And then it would be my
fault! I thought that was a typical Mole act!"
Lottie arrives and takes both bags of Marc-Marie.
CC
Victoria:"Lottie took both bags of Marc-Marie... She sais she
didn't think about it. That comment 'I didn't think about it.' ... that's the
most stupid comment one could make in this game which is all about
thinking!"
Yvon takes one from Isabelle and Yvonne.
CC
Yvon:"I took those bags because I saw everyone had only one bag
left except those two, so I thought then at least everyone has one bag. It was a
bit silly, because when I arrived, it turned out that Victoria also still had 2
bags there. I really didn't see that! Maybe I would have taken her bag
then."
Sander and Roeland arrive too.
CC
Yvon:"So 9 people did it, € 1,000 for each person, minus the
€ 500 from Gijs. So we got € 8,500."
Sander takes a bag of Victoria:"Because it
would be a bit sad if she didn't get one backpack, although it would be funny
too!" The second bag he takes along is that of Isabelle.
Roeland takes Jim and Sander's bags.
The others are all waiting at Kangaroo Island. Gijs and Yvon are
sitting apart from the rest on a bench and he asks her who she's going to vote
for. Yvon:"I'm not going to tell you!" Gijs:"OK...
but you have an idea?" Yvon:"I do." Gijs:"Male
or female?" Yvon:"If you take a look at you. How much
more Mole can one be? You have eliminated yourself from the challenges for two
days already."
Isabelle and Sander are also talking. Isabelle:"Yesterday.
Maybe he let himself fall on purpose and he fell harder than what was supposed
to happen. But you don't know and it's so difficult."
Sander:"That's the trouble with The Mole. You're going to
suspect people you don't really like, but someone you like a lot, you don't want
to suspect, especially if he falls so badly too!"
Yvonne and Victoria's bags were the ones left over. They will have to make do without them for a while. They have € 11,250 in the group pot now. They have to prepare for the questionnaire and the host reminds them that when the percentage of correct answers is lower than last time, two people will be eliminated!
Suspicions
Victoria:"I'm going to spread my chances with the
question. I think I can say with certainty who I don't think are The Mole:
Sander and Isabelle. And maybe less probable is Marc-Marie."
Isabelle:"Hmmyeah who's my Mole? I'm still thinking Yvon, but
also Gijs because he fell and I was there when he did... Yvon or Gijs."
Gijs:"Everyone's suspicious and everyone isn't too. Everyone
does things of which you think how is that possible. I really wouldn't know who
The Mole is. It's so difficult!"
Sander:"Marc-Marie could be the Mole. He's so driven and
outspoken, but his strategy isn't that he's so very outspoken. His sabotaging
would be very devious. No, The Mole tries to be in the game and during the game
trying to talk others into doing small things and I feel Roeland tried that by
going along with me, because I'm claustrophobic and thought 'Hmm, if he gets
scared, I can take him out.' and that that would cost us € 2,000."
Roeland:"I voted Yvon, but I can't get a grip on her and she
makes me nervous, because she keeps everything to herself so much! You can't get
any information out of her."
Yvon:"I know who The Mole is! I can't say that of course, but
I really think I know. And he has a tough time. A very tough time."
Lottie:"I'm not going to say who it is, because I'm very
superstitious and I think if I say the name, it will be wrong already... It's a
man, I think that's quite something to tell already!!"
Jim:"I'm a bit confused. I don't know who would be a good
Mole. Marc-Marie would be good, Yvonne too. Lottie also does things of which I
think hmm... and Sander could also be a good Mole because he knows tha game so
well. I'm thrown into this game with 9 Moles, but I will win the money
anyway!"
Yvonne:"I've been suspecting Gijs a lot, but he's wounded
now, so I think I'll have to let go of him. I'm keeping an eye on Lottie. It's
not clear yet. It's a guess."
Marc-Marie:"I really think I'm going towards Gijs and
Roeland. Roeland also acts like he knows nothing, but I have seen him playing
meanwhile... he wants to lose the money." FLASHBACK
Roeland votes to open the last barrel. "But
I'm also watching Gijs, because I think it's good to make people believe I think
it's Gijs."
Suspicious in this episode
Victoria has the
metal detector when it's beeping. Sander has the shovel near it, which
was the reason why it was beeping.
Gijs tells the next group that the frisbees are mad of iron.
Marc-Marie insists on opening the expensive barrel.
Yvonne opens a barrel on her own, without consulting the others.
Roeland keeps on voting to open barrels.
Gijs has fallen and can't participate in the challenges. Was it a Mole
act gone bad?
Jim and Sander claim to be claustrophobic.
Lottie takes two bags of the same person.
Roeland volunteers to help claustrophobic Sander
Elimination
The elimination takes place at Remarkable Rocks. How many people will be
eliminated? Last time their percentage was 34 % and it has to be more than that,
or two people will be eliminated... The host reveals the percentage first...
39 %
So one of them will be eliminated... Who will it be?
