Cape Hatteras on June 10, 2001. I climbed to the top on the 10th, first non-employee in the tower when they opened it. The next day they closed it, ultimately for the year, when a small piece fell from the stair structure. :o(

Ocracoke lighthouse on June 10, 2001. Another difficult light to photograph. This one only offers one direction to photograph it from without going on private property, DON'T! It might be possible from the marina which I'm planning to try next summer.

The New Cape Henry tower as seen from the lantern room atop the Old Cape Henry tower. A 90' tower well worth the climb, and a fun last few feet to the lantern room itself, you'll see if you climb it.
