A question in alt.coffee this week drew my attention. How long does the crema last?
The first thought was: "I don't know, never waited long enough to see". A few other people responded the same way.
So, using my commercial 1 group Boema, Rocky grinder and freshly roasted Colombian Supremo beans
I set out to check it out. The results are documented here.
After about 3 minutes the crema settled, and didn't seem to deteriorate any further. After 10 minutes my wife told me that standing watching crema is like watching the grass grow. So the experiment concluded at 10 minutes. I think that the crema would have lasted another 10 minutes easily.
