The 8 track we rented couldn't take our relentless hours of tracking, and the tapes became "warbly." Oh well. But it was my first attempt at a decent demo, and I like quite a few of the songs on it. "Retrospect" is still one of my favourite guitar riffs that I've come up with, and "Falling Apart" is definitely amoung the best examples of my songwriting, both lyrically and structurally. It was recorded at our house in Burnaby and some of the vocals were done in Point Roberts, Wa., which is where Leslee was living at the time. Ivan was actually the third bass player to come and go, but he certainly made an impression. His tasteful playing is abundant on all three of the tracks we were lucky enough to capture him on. Jerry "Ched" Dunham didn't come along until a few months later, so I ended up doing the rest of the bass lines.
