| Episode 6: Diva in Distress First Aired: 3-13-2004 Guest Starring: Islay Johnston as Hayley Latham Gaines as Anton Mercer Morgan Reese Fairhead as Kylee Styles Summary: Kira is playing at Hayley's Cyberspace, but noone is really paying attention to her except Tommy, Conner, Ethan and Trent, who is currently drawing a picture. She finishes the song and sits down with them. Kira talks about how noone was listening to her play, but Trent tells her that he was. Kira then notices the picture he was drawing but he turns it away before she gets a better look. Tommy says that noone appreciates music anymore and how it is all just pop garbage. Hayley then offers up Kylee Styles' music as an example. Kira tells them that her and Kylee used to be friends, but now Kylee is all about image. Ethan and Conner don't believe her, but Tommy says that he does. Ethan then uses Kylee's website and finds out that Kylee is in town to promote her new cd. Conner tells him that they are there. A man in a suit walks in to the Cyberspace and looks around. Trent waves at him a walks off to meet him. Tommy notices the man too and goes over to talk to him. It turns out the man is Anton Mercer and he is Trent's father. Trent is surprised that the two know each other. Hayley then asks if Trent can help on a table and takes him away. This gives Tommy time to try talk about their experiments, and how the two of them survived, with Anton, but Anton basically blows him off by just offering a meeting in the future. At their house, Trent tries to talk about Tommy with Anton, but Anton tells him that Tommy is from a part of his past that he wants to forget and he expects the same of Trent. At a mall, Kira and Conner finally see Kylee at her signing. Kylee recognizes Kira from her name after Kylee assumes Kira is there for an autograph and they talk about how they sang together. Kylee tells Conner it was not the best stuff and you have to grow up sometime, much to Kira's dismay. Cassidy and Devin then make their way through the crowd to grab an interview. Kylee then tells Kira that duty calls and they'll meet later. On his island, Mesogog tells Elsa that he has a plan to suck the life out of humans and takes a jar. Back at the mall, Conner and Kira watch Kylee leave and they begin to talk. All of a sudden they hear a scream they run over to find Kylee surrounded by Tyrannodrones and the Donkeyvac monster. Conner and Kira fight and Kira tells Kylee to run, but Kylee ends up having the youth sucked out of her by the monster who promptly leaves. Now outside, Donkeyvac monster has let his power loose on the city and is sucking the youth out of the citizens. Ethan, Conner, and Tommy see this in HQ. Tommy asks where Kira is and Conner tells him she is with Kylee at Cyberspace. The three morph without her and attack Donkeyvac. At Hayley's, Kylee is moaning about losing her youth and how she looks ugly while Kira tries to consol her. Kira�s bracelet then beeps and she tries to leave but Kylee stops and tells Kira to stay with her because Kira is her friend. Kira decides to stay, while the rangers fight the monster. Cassidy and Devin make their way onto the battlefield and try to interview Donkeyvac, but they end up getting their youth sucked out of them. The fighting resumes after Cassidy and Devin leave, but this time Zeltrax steps in to take on Tommy. Zeltrax tells him that they have a score to settle, but Tommy doesn't know what he is talking about. They fight while the other two rangers take on Donkeyvac. Meanwhile, Cassidy and Devin use their "age" to get a senior citizen discount on hot dogs. Back at Cyberspace, Kylee is still moaning. Kira leaves her a tape, telling her that the Kylee on the tape is the Kylee she used to know and leaves to go help the rangers. Kylee has Hayley play the tape which is of Kylee and Kira singing together. On the battlefield, Tommy and Zeltrax are still fighting. On a tennis court, Ethan and Conner are getting hammered by Donkeyvac when a sonic scream knocks the monster down. Kira comes forward and morphs. They call the Z-Rex Blaster and destroy it, forcing Mesogog to enlarge it. Tommy calls the Brachio Zord and the rangers form the megazord. Using the Dino Drill, they finish the monster off, while Tommy forces Zeltrax's retreat. Donkeyvac's defeat causes the people to revert to normal. Even Cassidy and Devin who changed back in the middle of trying to get movie tickets on a senior discount. They end up getting chased out by real senior citizens. At Hayley's, Hayley shows Kira a picture that someone drew of Kira as she prepares to hang it up. It was, of course, Trent's work. After her and Trent talk about how Trent drew her as a superhero, Kira then gets up on stage to perform a song she wrote a while ago with a friend. Partway through the song, Kylee gets up on stage and helps finish it. My Thoughts: Overall, an ok episode. The introduction of Anton Mercer was pretty good, but I'm hoping they flesh his relationship with Tommy and Trent out a little bit more. I don't think the subplot with Cassidy and Devin was really necessary, but it did provide some laughs. I am curious to see what is up with the Black ranger mantle and Zeltrax. It appears the Zeltrax is more angry with the Black Ranger's uniform than he is with Tommy. I think that Trent only being able to draw superheros might have an affect in the future. |
