| Episode 5: Back in Black First Aired: 3-6-2004 Guest Starring: Islay Johnston as Hayley Summary: Hayley tells the three that she has a lock on a portal and they get ready to leave. As they walk away she tells them that they must achieve a speed of at least 536mph in order to get through the security wall, or face being ripped to pieces. They obviously stop and wonder why she didnt tell them before. She informs them that this is not a problem and introduces them to the Raptor Cycles. She tells them that they will get them to and through the portal quickly and onto Mesogogs island fortress. Conner appears to be worried as he realizes that it is an island and is surrounded by water. Ethan quickly figures out that Conner cant swim. Conner gets embarrassed and the three morph. The rangers board their cycles and leave to go to the portal. On his island, Mesogog is still trying to get Tommy to help him release the power from the stone. Tommy refuses and Mesogog sends Elsa after the three rangers in order to use them to make Tommy help. On one of the screens the rangers are shown riding their cycles. Elsa quickly leaves, bringing reinforcements with her. On their cycles, the rangers are riding when their bikes stop. Kira deduces that Hayley programmed the coordinates of the portal into the bikes and told the bikes to stop at that point. They get off of the bikes and they notice the invisportal in the distance. They talk for a little bit then get back onto their bikes. As they prepare to leave, Elsa, Zeltrax, some Tyrannodrones, and a monster appear to stop them. The talk for a little bit and then the fight is on. Using his bike, Conner fights off Zeltrax and Elsa. Elsewhere, Ethan uses his to attack the monster, while Kira uses hers to handle some Tyrannodrones. The rangers fight them off enough to get a chance to enter the portal and do. Leaving Elsa behind to fire a few blasts at them and to simply look on angrily. The rangers arrive in Mesogogs fortress and dismount their bikes. They contact Hayley who tells them that they only have five minutes to get Tommy and get out. Mesogog hears their arrival, as they the rangers have set an alarm off, in his lab and leaves to go after them. He quickly catches up with the unmorphed rangers in a hallway that Kira was leading them through. He corners them and is prepared to send a mind blast at them in order to hurt them, but Zeltrax, Elsa, and the monster appear in front of them and accidently get Mesogogs blast. The three take advantage of the momentary break and run off as Mesogog sends his crew after them. They are quickly able to arrive at the lab where Tommy is. They free him and shut the door, blocking off Elsa and the others. Mesogog quickly arrives and helps the others in, forcing the rangers to morph and a fight to occur. They all fight, with Tommy taking on Mesogog. During the fight, Tommy tells the rangers to go through a portal in the room, which they do. Tommy then grabs the stone and leaves through the portal as well. Tommy arrives where the rangers are, the location of where they left their bikes, and they head through the portal. Once in the city they talk, but their talk is cut short when Elsa, Zeltrax, some Tyrannodrones, and the monster arrive. Zeltrax then uses his sword to send a blast at Tommy, but Tommy uses the stone to block it. The stone, unable to take the blast, shatters and Tommy disappears. The rangers, thinking Tommy was defeated, mourn his disappearance, but it is cut short when Tommy appears out of thin air. He shows the rangers his new black dino gem and Ethan derives that its power must be invisibility. Elsa tells Tommy that the gem is Mesogogs. Tommy tells her that dino gems choose their holders, not the other way around, and that they go well with dino morphers. He then activates his Brachio morpher and pushes the gem into it, which allows him to morph into the Black Dino Thunder Ranger. Another fight is on. Tommy fights off some Tyrannodrones and Zeltrax using his new Brachio Staff. While Conner fights Elsa, Kira and Ethan handle the monster. Conner is able to force Elsa to retreat and goes to join Ethan and Kira. The three rangers quickly call on the Z-Rex Blaster and defeat the enemy. Tommy is then able to force Zeltraxs defeat. On his island, Mesogog uses the Hydro-Regenerator to revive the monster into its huge form. Hayley contacts the rangers and tells Tommy that she found something in a forest. On the horizon, the Brachio zord (Tommys) appears. The Brachio zord releases the other three zords and the rangers (red, blue, and yellow) form the megazord from them and begin to fight the monster. During the fight they begin to have some trouble. Hayley contacts them and tells Tommy to release the Cephalo zord from its carrier, the Brachio zord. The face plate on Tommy's morpher then changes to the cephalo face plate which he uses to call the zord. The zord bounces out of the Brachio and begins to fight the monster. Tommy tells the rangers to use it by having it form with the megazord. They do, and using the Cephalo Power Punch, they defeat the monster. With the battles over, Tommy answers some of the other rangers' questions while they hang out at Hayleys Cyberspace business. He shows them his braclet and tells them that he had Hayley create the Brachio morpher when he saw an energy reading that indicated that there was another gem around and that he was coming to Kiras gig to tell them about the energy moving and they needed to investigate it. He then tells them that he has to leave to go shop because his closet has a lack of black clothing in it. My Thoughts: Overall, an awesome episode. Tommy back in action, a great bike fight, what more could you want. It was funny to see that Conner could not swim. It gives a human side to him and shows that he is not just this can-do-anything jock. The bike fight was one of the best that I have ever seen in Power Rangers. It beat last year's Ninja Storm one and that one was pretty good. It was awesome to see Tommy back in action as a ranger. His joke at the end about clothing was pretty good as well. |
