| Episode 15: Leader of the Whack First Aired: 5-15-2004 Guest Starring: Islay Johnston as Hayley Summary: A meteor is streaking through the atmosphere as Trent is stumbling through the woods trying to get far away so that he can�t hurt anyone. Cassidy has also dragged Devin along to this same area of the woods so that she can get footage of the white ranger. She tells Devin that she has done research and most villains tend to have their headquarters in caves or outside city limits. They stumble upon Trent, who has taken a break by a tree. They begin to talk and Trent tells them to look out as the meteor from before comes barreling through and almost hits Cassidy and Devin. Luckily, noone is hurt as the meteor crashes a short distance away. Cassidy decides that this is a news story and the three of them go to investigate it. The rangers are relaxing in the underground lab, while Hayley continues to scan Tommy�s, still morphed, amber-encased self. The rangers� fun is cut short when their computer picks up the meteor�s recent impact and Conner, Kira, and Ethan leave to go investigate it. In his fortress, Mesogog is receiving a report about their latest creature from Zeltrax. According to Zeltrax, this creature will be vicious and aggressive. However, things do not go as planned and when Robobot exits the Geno-Randomizer, they find that this creature would probably rather pick flowers than pick off rangers. An alarm sounds and Elsa informs Mesogog that they have received a heat signature from the forest where the others are. Against Robobot�s wishes, Mesogog sends him down to investigate. Back at the forest, Cassidy, Devin, and Trent have arrived at the impact site. As they are investigating it, Conner, Kira, and Ethan arrive. Conner and Ethan are still mad at Trent, but Kira appears to be more worried than upset. Kira stops Conner and Ethan from getting into it with Trent so that they can investigate the interstellar rock. However, like many plans before, they don�t get a chance to as Robobot shows up with some Tyrannodrones. Cassidy and Devin decide to take off but as they are running off, the meteor hits them with two balls of light that seem to get absorbed into their bodies. After Cassidy and Devin leave, a fight is on. Trent helps the other three rangers fight as they get swarmed by Tyrannodrones and Robobot simply looks on. Hayley contacts Kira, Conner, and Ethan and tells them to get away from the rock due to the amount of radiation it is letting off. Kira informs Hayley that they can�t get away and the meteor then blasts Robobot with the same ball of light that got Cassidy and Devin. The ball of light unleashes Robobot�s evil side and makes him want to join the fight. This new development forces Conner, Kira, and Ethan to have to morph. They gain un upper hand quickly while Trent continues to fight some Tyrannodrones unmorphed. While fighting, the meteor continues its light show and decides to make Trent its latest venue by hitting him with another of its light orbs. It seems to make Trent a little dizzy as he continues his fight. The morphed rangers are still holding their own when the meteor blasts them each with individual light orbs. The rangers force the villains to retreat and power down. Conner tells the others that it was a challenging altercation (words he would never use), while Ethan seems to want some more action, while Kira worries about the dirt under her finger nails (something she would never do). Conner looks around and notices that Trent has disappeared. Hayley then contacts them and ask them to come to the lab as she has information about the meteor. At the lab, Hayley informs them that it is a meteor fragment. She tells them that coming in contact with the meteor may have side affects and asks them if they are alright. The tell her yeah and Conner leaves to go watch a documentary on pyramids, Ethan leaves to go to the gym and work out, while Kira decides to leave and go soak her nails to improve their growth. In his fortress, Mesogog approves of Robobot�s new evil demeanor and gives him a second chance. The ball of light that hit Devin has given him new-found confidence, a love for hair gel, and sudden like for vintage style clothing, while it only gave Cassidy the zeal to become a wall-flower nerd. They then decide to go get a soda at Hayley�s Cyberspace. In the lab, Ethan is lifting weights, Conner is wearing a sports jacket, glasses, and carrying book, and Kira has just arrived from shopping, looking like a 1950's housewife. Hayley tells them that there were side-effects from the meteor and they need to destroy, while the others disagree. That duty will come later, as the computer informs them that Robobot is attacking the city. Conner, Kira, and Ethan quickly morph to go stop them. They are too divide to attack and Robobot decides to just leave. The three ranger go in separate directions, a little angry at each other. Cassidy and Devin have arrived at Hayley�s and Devin decides to give a little dancing show to the bevy of girls that followed him and Cassidy there. While Devin is busy making the disco kings happy, Conner, Kira, and Ethan, who are there as well, receive a call from Hayley. When they arrive at the lab, Hayley tells them that she thinks that she can use the meteor to free Tommy from his fossilized prison. She tells them that the meteor can free one�s inner self, which is why they are acting so different. She tells them that the meteor is allowing the people that come into contact with it to show a different side of themselves. She prepares to tell them what she needs them to do, but is stopped by the appearance of Robobot. The three rangers morph and head off to stop Robobot. They defeat it after a use of their super dino modes and a blast from the Z-Rex Blaster. After giving Elsa and Zeltrax a quick mental punishment, Mesogog uses the Hydro-Regenerator to make Robobot grow. The rangers call for their zords and form the megazord. They quickly call for the ankylo zord and combine it with the megazord. Robobot tries to make a getaway, but is stopped by the appearance of the white ranger and his Dino Stega Zord. The two megazords quickly defeat the creature and the white ranger leaves, offering no explanation. The red, yellow, and blue rangers have arrived back in the forest on their cycles. Using the laser on the bikes, they blast the meteor to pieces, allowing them to return to normal. They go an retrieve a large piece of the meteor and leave to get it back to the lab. At Hayley�s Devin finishes dancing with Cassidy and they go to sit down. Cassidy begins to talk about how they have known each other for a while and begin to lean in to kiss, but the meteor�s destruction reverts them to normal and they stop before they kiss. At the lab, Hayley takes the meteor fragment from the rangers and sticks it into a machine. Before Hayley does, Kira mentions using it to fight the affects of the white dino gem on Trent. Hayley fires up the machine and releases Tommy from the amber. Unfortunately a bad news, bad news situation arises when Kira realizes that the machine has fried the meteor fragment and when Tommy attempts to power down, he can�t. My Thoughts: This episode had one of the weirdest titles that I have ever heard of. However it was an ok episode. I feel that the dance scene with Devin was unnecessary and that the time that that scene took could have been used to explore the effects of the meteor on Trent a little more, which they seem to have forgotten about. |
