Roanoke Valley public safety agencies are encouraged to send out alerts to the media via our media paging system. The system has been in place for over three years and has seen many successes. Rather than calling or faxing each media agency individually, all you need to do is call this one phone number and it will send a page to the following media outlets-

Some examples of how agencies have used the system are:

Virginia State Police - Notifications about accidents and traffic fatalities on major roadways such as Interstate 81 or Route 460

Roanoke Fire-EMS - Notifications about residential or commercial structure fires

Roanoke Police - Notifications about accidents and traffic fatalities, notifications about road conditions, notifications about major criminal incidents such as murders, school related incidents, robberies, shootings, abducted child, etc.

City of Roanoke - Notifications about water main breaks

Roanoke County Police - Notifications about accidents and traffic fatalities, notifications about shootings

Roanoke County Fire and Rescue - Notifications about residential or commercial structure fires and brush fires

Salem Police - Notification about abduction of family

VDOT - Notifications about road conditions

Roanoke Regional Airport - Notifications about airport closings or disruption to service
