We're getting bigger!!! At Tyler's 6 month check-up on July 16, he weighed in at 17lbs. 8oz., 28". His hair is still red! I can see some brown coming in on the back of his head, but it's still primarily red. I'm starting to get baby fever, and the pediatrician told me that it's normal for that to kick in around the 6 month mark. Well....at least I'm normal!
7/23/04 - This month, he has started to mimick things. I have a short laugh that I do, and he has copied it to where at first we thought it was just a noise, but we quickly realized that it's him laughing. It sounds like three little "ha ha ha's". Although, it really sounds like a pow pow pow!
He is now sitting up in a tripod. He's got the crawling motion down pat, but hasn't started crawling yet. If he will pick his head up and leave the feet down, he's off and running. I'm not ready for that yet!
One small problem (not really a problem, though) is that whenever we eat, we usually feed him first, and then sit down to eat. Well, we've learned that it doesn't matter if he's been fed or not. If we're eating, then he demands to have food too. He will throw a tantrum if we do not give him something to snack on while we're eating. You definitely cannot eat in front of Tyler. Last night, we took Katlyn and Ethan to IHOP for dinner. Tyler was watching us eat, and I gave Tyler a bottle. I offered Ethan the ham on my plate and as he reached for it and started eating, Tyler had this look of "WHAT IS HE DOING????" and started crying. Apparently Tyler thought that it was supposed to be his ham. Shortly after that, he looked at Katlyn and her pancake, and I said "even she is eating". He started crying! haha!!! He was tired, but it's still funny how he put the crying spots in at just the right time. So.....the list of hobbies is now starting. Tyler's first hobby: EATING!
8/12/04 - Tyler is still not crawling. He'll get up on all fours and rock back and forth. He'll even move backwards.....but just won't crawl! Still no teeth either. He's on stage 2 foods and his favorite foods are chicken and rice, and he still likes his sweet potatoes and peas. As for fruits, he likes just about anything except for mango. He'll eat it, but it's not his favorite. We tried giving him watermelon the other day and he shook his head in disgust several times as if he were saying "ughh, oooh, yuck." So....no watermelon for Tyler! haha
A few things he started doing this month:
Holding his arms out for someone to pick him up or take him. Sitting up He will stand, if he's supported (in the exersaucer, etc.), but doesn't have his balance yet. His eyes have turned from blue to hazel/green. |
