SPRING 2000

Vancouver's cold and rainy this time of year!

We arrived in Vancouver in the late spring (around May 16) without a clue as to what we were going to do. We had written about a million engineering firms but none of them had taken the bait! After dropping Jackie off at the airport we found ourselves a climbing wall and made that our home base. We started climbing a lot and eventually landed jobs teaching at the wall. We lived in the parking lot for about a week and a half before we found an apartment.

A few days later we ended up at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club looking for employment. No problem, we both got jobs working the same hours and everything. Turns out our apartment was only about 8 blocks away from work, a 10 minute walk...not bad considering some people in Vancouver travel for hours to get to work! The only problem with Vancouver in the spring is the rain! It must have rained for about 2 weeks non stop when we got there, we thought it was never going to end!

Our new room mate was from France, pretty ugly but she seemed OK...boy were we wrong! She just left us in her house, not even knowing our names, no references, no damage deposit nothing for an entire month while she went home to visit! When she got back is when stuff got real interesting check out summer.
