Hello my name is Mark and I am from North Providence, RI, USA...

I just graduated from Providence College with a degree in Biology and am spending a year seeing the world before going back to Providence for med school at Brown.  6 months will be spent in Siem Reap, Cambodia volunteering at the Angkor Hospital for Children and 5.5 months will be spent hiking the Appalacian Trail up the East Coast of America.

I guess I'm here because this is as far away from home that I could get without coming back the other side.  I really like Providence, but I've been going to school there since Jr. High and will be doing medical school there- that's 2 years of Jr. High, 4 years of high school, 4 years of college, and 4 years of medical school, which is a lot of time to spend in one city within walking distance of all the schools as well as your house.  I couldn't afford to study abroad during college, so this is my (much cheaper I must add) alternative route to seeing the world.
