NaRA LiVET is a
New Jersey based, emo
influenced Indie Rockband. Born in a rainy New Jersey autumn when the bassist
Mikey P and the guitarist Christa P (no relation, besides for Best Friends) were
doing as they so often did, sitting around and jamming as well as writing songs
together. Christa had been performing as a solo folk/indie rock songwriter and
billing herself as What of Rosaline? for a year and Mikey had been in several
bands including the wildly popular and volitile punk band D-FENS and the far-out
Brooksyde. However they noticed a strange and mysterious magic happen when they
wrote together, power chords combining with melodic bass and heart-wrenching
deceptively sweet lyrics to create an emotional wrench of the heart. They
continued to mature in the room known only as The Secret Garden fueledd by a
desire to play truth and have a hella good time. Just when they thought that
their music was going to be without a strong backbeat PJ their drummer (and
beautiful person) descended from the ceiling to infuse an inspired and amazing
performance, the power trio was complete and they began to attempt to achieve a
sound that would be forever tagged as "that weird little band with that
girl with short hair and that bassist who jumps around alot and that spanishkid
who drums". Their infulences are that of Rainer Maria, The Decendants, The
Lawndarts, Modest Mouse, Pedrothe Lion, The Pixies, Sleater-Kinney and various
hijinks that the band has facilitated such as the legendary "goat in the
dean's office incident". Their odd name is a result of Christa reading a
book on Slyvia Plath's poetry and finding out that one of her poems was based on
an Ingmar Bergman Film known as "Nara Livet" meaning the brink of
life. The name is Swedish, they are from
New Jersey
and you love them...alot.
